Can't create users and groups
Hi,
I'm making a qmail RPM.
All goes well, except that the users and groups are not being created.
And they must be before running "make setup check".
I've tried all locations in the spec file, but nothing :(
Following my signature is the relevant part of the spec file.
Any help would be appreciated.
Warm Regards

rsync backups on Mac OS X - mknod errors + icon disappears...
Hi
I am a rsync (on Mac OS X, RsyncX version with extended HFS+/-eahfs
forks) beginner (I merely use it for backing up my desktop machine to a
bootable
external firewire volume, so that I can resume work in case of a
harddrive disaster)
and I got these messages:
mknod

Should umask takes effect when we create device file via mknod?
Hi all,
Currently, umask takes effect when we create device file via mknod, as
bellow commands show:
><fs> mknod-b 0760 8 1 /dev/sdf
><fs> ll /dev/sdf
brwxr----- 1 root root 8, 1 Apr 15 11:10 /sysroot/dev/sdf
But I wonder whether it is reasonable? For mknod(1), when we use option
-m mode, we set file permission bits to MODE, not a=rw - umask. Should
this also be applicable

[PATCH] mknod: filter modes in mkfifo, mknod_b, mknod_c (RHBZ#1182463).
Since mkfifo, mknod_b, and mknod_c add the correct file type to the
modes of the resulting file, make sure the specified mode contains only
permissions bits.

Mknod: Operation not permitted
When trying to move my root to a btrfs filesystem, I found a missing
feature (or a bug). It's not possible to create device files. To
reproduce, run this on a btrfs filesystem:
mknod test c 1 1
result:
mknod: `test': Operation not permitted

samba as PDC in FreeBSD
Hello all, I've set up samba as a PDC in FreeBSD 5.1-release. I seemed to
have no problems joining my computer to the domain as it said "Welcome to
the domain" but when I try and log in it says it can't contact the domain
controller or the domain account doesn't exist. Can anyone offer any help on
how to fix this?
Here is my smb.conf.
Kind regards,
Elvar

bad hardlinks with rsync
Hi List
I've experienced some problems with rsync. I'm backuping a complete
machine's rootdirectory. After completion I see in the log of the
output, that rsync links some files which are surely *not* the same
on the source System. Or well, it says, that it makes links, using
the filename1 => filename2 notation. On the source System this files
are not the same and some files are

upgraded to samba-3.0.23c = continous password prompts on shares
Since upgrading to samba 3.0.23c when I try and access the samba shares
it continually prompts me for a username and password. The samba server
has been joined to a win2k3 domain and should be allowing access based
on the windows domain accounts like it used to be doing, but that is no
longer working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,

file transfer problem
Hello,
I'm having a problem copying large amounts of data from our Win2k3
server to a samba share on the samba server. I've turned debugging on in
the smb.conf file all the way up to level 10 and I still do not see what
is causing my file transfers to abort. It consistently aborts copying
files as small as 10 gigs even. I've read through the performance tuning
section in the

map user homes to a windows share
Hello everyone,
I've been tasked with setting up several computer labs in a school with
Ubuntu workstations. I have successfully joined those workstations to
the windows domain and set it up so they authenticate to the windows
domain as well. My problem is that I need to figure out how to have each
user's home folder on the Ubuntu boxes map to the users home folder on
