rsync directory with symbolic links
Hi all,
I have a problem synching a directory that as symbolic links.
The behavior is:
If a symlink is relative (like ../../file) the link is copied correctly
If a symlink is absolute (like /root/document) the link is copied like
(root/document) whithout the first slash.
By the way some link are not usable.
I use rsync 2.5.5 protocol 26 and the command is
rsync -varlRHpogDtxP .

rsyncd bug for sym-links
I'm 99% sure there is a bug in rsync when running in daemon mode on a
'remote' server. The bug is that when trying to rsync a sym-link, the
daemon 'leg' of the code strips off the leading path separator (for linux,
this would be a '/'). I have produced a 'fixed' version of the code and
we have been using it for at least 6 months. We've also used the

Country numbering plan resources
Is there any good free / accurate online resources with detailed country
numbering plans? Failing that let's get something running ourselves.
I was also thinking maybe people present could contribute some information on
this list for now. The countries I am after are below.
To start this off I will provide the information for Australia +61 and New
Zealand +64.

Direct Method Age-Adjustment to Complex Survey Data
Hi everyone, my apologies in advance if I'm overlooking something simple in
this question. I am trying to use R's survey package to make a direct
method age-adjustment to some complex survey data. I have played with
postStratify, calibrate, rake, and simply multiplying the base weights by
the correct proportions - nothing seems to hit the published numbers on the
nose.
I am trying to

state of ide raid
Hello,
While shopping for another 3Ware card, I found that this market has gotten
much larger since I bought my 6500. So I started looking at the various
cards while browsing the hardware notes for FreeBSD 4.8 and 5.1.
So I'm wondering if anyone can provide some insight here.
-3Ware has a whole new series of cards. The twe(4) manpage states that
only 5xxx and 6xxx series cards are

dovecot/lmtp dumps core when proxying to multiple recipients via protocol=smtp
Hello,
when trying to set up a migration scenario from my old mailbox-servers
to my new dovecot-cluster, I get a coredump from dovecot/lmtp when
proxying mail-delivery to more than one recipient on the old mailbox-server.
My setup:
3 director-hosts (Debian stretch) are proxying to a pair of
replicator-hosts and during migration also to the old mailbox-server.
For migration the not-migrated

If you don't want to use opusfile's http client implementation
(libopusurl) you can still use its seeking implementation. Just provide

I would recommend the opusfile library, which implements seeking
specifically for Opus streams.

Sync data between various PuppetDB instances
Dear all,
We have a few reasons to have various PuppetDBs (and Masters, one per
cluster) in our datacenter and, eventually, there may be a need to share
*only* a few exported resources between clusters, like a few ssh-keys or
nagios tests.
Is there a mechanism to pull and push some exported resources from one
PuppetDB to another? I guess this could be done with the API, but has
anybody tried it,

Possible header parsing problem
Hi,
I ran into a problem wherein my mail client (RoundCube) would not
display a message from a Dovecot IMAP server (claiming that the message
had no content). The raw source of the message looked fine, but the body
structure returned by Dovecot only had the first text/plain part and not
the alternative text/html part. The message looks like:
... headers removed ...

smbpasswd and nmbd don't call my password program
I have samba-1.9.18p7-2
smb.conf says:
# Configure smbpasswd
passwd chat debug = yes
# Default
passwd chat = *old*password* %o\n *new*password* %n\n *new*password* %n\n
*changed*
passwd program = /usr/bin/yppasswd
Using smbpasswd, my encrypted password is changed, but yppasswd is not even
touched (as per ls -lu /usr/bin/yppasswd).
Furthermore, running smbd with -d 100 didn't seem to show

High system in %system load .
Hello
Got strange problem with high system "%system load" and very slow user level
programs (apache+php+mysql) behavior
gstat shows 1.5-4% hard disk busy load but system shows about 20-30% load
while user load is max 5%.
vmstat shows from 2 to 35 process in "b" state.
Now use 7.0-RELEASE-p5 , but the same problem was with 7.0-RELEASE.
And have no idea what to do with this.

Assistance with data import from Statistica
I am a new R user attempting to convert files from Statistica to R. I
can export from Statistica to SPSS .por format, but not to the SPSS .sav
format. Is there a procedure for easily accomplishing this, which will
allow me to keep variable short and long labels (big surveys LOTS of
time to replace all this work).
Many thanks for sharing your time and knowledge.

Spacewalk? Local repo? Cache?
I have a mix of CentOS 5, 6, and now 7 servers at work. There are enough of them now that it is starting to make sense for them to get updates from an internal source.
I've seen RHN Satellite in years past. It looks like it may be a way to allow Windows admins here (familiar with WSUS) to update Linux boxes. A local repo might be easier to set up, but (as with Spacewalk) it seems like

Initial DTMFs arriving too quickly?
Hi
I've got an Asterisk box connected to a Siemens Hicom 300 using a Digium
TDM400. The Hicom provides the calling extension as DTMF at the beginning of
the call followed by two *, as in 3425** when 3425 calls my extension, I can
hear all 6 tones if I have a handset connected but using Asterisk's Read
application straight after Answer() Asterisk usually only gets the last *,
sometimes the
