Beginners question
Dear list,
I've been messing around with coding functions in R and it just won't make
sense to me.
Running my analysis by hand on command line is fine and works but because
of the repetitive nature of the job I would like to code a function for it.
My problem:
I would like to read in data from a file in my current working dir.
so my code would look like:

rsync: connection unexpectedly closed
Hi rsync list,
Im trying to use rsync to sync about 23GB over a local LAN.
I use 2.5.6 compiled on SCO OpenServer 5.0.6, this is the command I use:
rsync --verbose --stats --recursive --times --perms --links --delete
eurux02::user2
(I have tried it with and without --compress, as the archive hinted this
may be a problem with -z, but same result)
on the source machine rsync --daemon is running

pxeboot file from the sources and placed it in

Samba 4 on Production
We're involved in a project that the requirements could be satisfied
with both samba3 and 4. Anyway I am testing what can be done with
Samba4 and after following the tutorial published in the official
wiki, I was able to create my test domain, and join WinXP and Win7
machines to it without a problem.
I still need to test the GPO functionality, and some other stuff, but

ATA devices
Does anyone know of a 24 port ATA device that could be installed in a
phone closet? Like a channel bank, but, instead of multiplexing onto a
T-1 circuit, it would convert to SIP/RTP on a LAN connection.
Thanks,

Premisys Slimline CB
I need to connect a bunch of analog telephone sets. Does anyone have
any comments about this channel bank? Disconnect supervision? Echo?
ADSI problems? The price is right @ $995 new and $695 refurbished.
Thanks,

zaphfc and ASUSCOM working in the US
I finally got my ASUSCOM (Cologne chip) ISDNLink card working here in
the US.
When a call arrives, I get "Unknown IE 42 (Unknown Information Element)"
and "Unknown IE 21 (Unknown Information Element)".
IE 21 (0x15) is defined as Q931_CALL_STATE_SUSPEND_REQUEST. IE 42
(0x2a) is not defined in the code and I couldn't google it.
Is this something perculiar with ISDN in

point I wish to experiment with zfs. I have a couple of questions:

[OT] What's changing /etc/hosts?
Occasionally my /etc/hosts file gets corrupted. The IP address and the
host name switch positions with the host name to the left.
What this happens, my 7940 phones won't register. Fixing /etc/hosts
allows the phones to register.
Do any of you Linux gurus know who is corrupting the hosts file?
Thanks,

Bug in AFS token forwarding
There is a bug in the code for getting AFS tokens in function
send_afs_tokens() in sshconnect1.c
Here is how the bug manifests itself:
If I have an AFS token that is still valid _and_ one that was valid but
is now expired then AFS token forwarding ignores both tokens instead
of forwarding the still valid one.
I can reproduce this problem on Red Hat Linux 7.2 systems with
OpenSSH-3.4p1 (and

Splicing audio clips into one stream
Is there a Linux tool that will splice several gsm sound clips together
into one clip?
In my agi script, I would like to use 'get_data' with one clip instead
of multiple 'stream_file' so the user doesn't have to listen to the
entire spiel before responding.
Thanks,

Dear all,
I'm currently working on converting mathematica code
