feedback on rsync-HEAD-20050125-1221GMT
Wayne, I have been using the rsync snapshot from 1/25 for the last few days and everything seems quite solid so far. I include below a few nit-picks in case you're looking for thing to tidy up. I'm also looking forward to hearing news about the --filter option. I'm thinking it is going to be very useful for backup purposes. What I would want to be able to do is, on a

Rsync 2.6.0 compile problem
I am trying to compile rsync-2.6.0 on BSD/OS 5.0 patched to current level. gcc version 2.95.3 I ran configure: ./configure --with-rsh=rsh This is the only error message given by configure: checking sys/sysctl.h usability... no checking sys/sysctl.h presence... yes configure: WARNING: sys/sysctl.h: present but cannot be compiled configure: WARNING: sys/sysctl.h: check for missing prerequisite

rsync 2.6.2: clean up compilation warnings
While building rsync 2.6.2 on my x86 Linux system using gcc 3.3.3, I observed a number of warnings from popt.c/h about ignoring qualifiers on return types. On further investigation, it looks like a few functions are declaring their return types as "const char * const". The first const is appropriate ("the chars pointed to by this pointer are const"), but the second is bogus

rsync 2.5.6 still hangs
While syncing a directory with about 40 files of various sizes (4KB - 20MB), rsync will hang, in a repeatable manner. (Where "repeatable" means that I get identical logs with -vvv set, modulo the temp file names.) I am using rsync in "server" mode - started by xinetd. Both sides are rsync 2.5.6. The server is RH Linux 7.0 (yeah, I know...), clients are Debian unstable (kernel

rsync-2.5.1 / popt patches
The following popt files need patches in order to compile using Compaq C on OpenVMS. These patches should also be needed on a Tru64 or LINUX on ALPHA using Compaq C. Except for the alloca issue, these should work on any ANSI compliant compiler. Operating System: OpenVMS ALPHA V7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 Compiler switches: /WARN=ENABLE=(LEVEL4, QUESTCODE) SYSTEM.H is doing tests on

There are quite a few compilation warnings from rsync-2.5.5rc1 that could be eliminated by code cleanup. gcc -I. -I. -g -O2 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -Wall -W -c main.c -o main.o main.c: In function `start_client': main.c:665: warning: unused variable `write_batch' main.c:664: warning: unused variable `whole_file' These warnings will go away when the two variables are properly bracketed

building rsync on MacOSX 10.2.2
This is to let you know that although rsync compiled on MacOSX 10.2.2, it failed certain tests. I have attached two files: (1) The combined output of "./configure" and make", and (2) the output of "make check". Please let me know if you need any further information. Problems with 2.5.3 under Debian Linux
I'm having serious problems with the current 2.5.3 release under Debian "testing" and the 2.4.19-pre2 Linux kernel. As you can see from the appended build log, I get many compiler warnings. More seriously, when I install and try to use the resulting binaries over ssh, things bomb horribly, e,g: bash-2.05a$ rsync -vaz homer-rr.ka9q.net:wwv_wwvh . receiving file list ... done

[PATCH] --source-filter && --dest-filter for rsync 2.5.6
Hi, I needed to filter content of files (encrypt), before they are sent over the network to backup server. The easiest way to do this was modifying Kyle Jones's "--dest-filter" patch. Somebody was asking there this feature in the past, so I'm sending this patch to list. Implementation details: -filtering disables rsync alogrithm -source filter makes temporary files in /tmp

[GlobalISel] [X86] unable to legalize instruction
I believe if you pass(iirc) -pass-remarks-missed=“gisel-*”, it’ll print the instruction it failed to legalize. Sent from my iPhone > On Oct 11, 2017, at 6:44 PM, S. Trouble using RSYNC from a SSH terminal
Hi, I'm setting up mirror server using RSYNC, but I couldn't find the answer... Why is possible to backup to my local Linux machine and why I couldn't use the same instruction for backing up through SSH? I explain: from the command line of my linux machine, I write: rsync -avuzb xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx::resource /home/www and it works properly. When I try to do the same in another machine

Comparing "transform" to "with"
Hi All, I've been successfully using the with function for analyses and the transform function for multiple transformations. Then I thought, why not use "with" for both? I ran into problems & couldn't figure them out from help files or books. So I created a simplified version of what I'm doing: rm( list=ls() ) x1<-c(1,3,3) x2<-c(3,2,1) x3<-c(2,5,2)

Calculate correctly, but gives an error message
Hi! I will calculate sum??s in the following way: E.g.: a <- rpois(100,20) b <- rpois(100,5) x <- data.frame(cbind(a,b)) # the sum??s should be calculated based on a. attach(x) sort.nace <- unique(sort(x[,1])) sum1 <- matrix(ncol=1, nrow=length(sort.nace)) # I calculate the sum of all values of b, which have the same category in a. Eg.: sum1[1,] <- sum(subset(x,
