XP Joining Samba Domain
I have successfully joined the XP machine to the domain. The strange part
is, that it only wanted to be joined if it connected to the PDC and not the
BDC.
The way it is set-up is that the XP machine and a BDC is in one branch and
the PDC is in another. Every time I would try to connect via the BDC, it
would return a value ACCESS DENIED
I stopped the smb service on the BDC, and got it to

/var/spool/samba retention period
It seems like the files sent to the samba spool and then over to CUPS seem
to stay in the /var/spool/samba directory indefinately.
Is there a fix to this via a configuration, or just setting up a cron job to
purge?
Thanks

Samba/LDAP XP Authentication Weirdness
Samba 2.2.8a, RH7.3
I have successfully connected machines running XP to the samba controlled
domain.
There are 3 XP machines, each with only one user designated as a power user
(ie domain\username power user). Each can log into any of the three
machines without a problem.
Now I am trying to log a different person into any of these machines and I

AEC strangest behavior
If more than one speaker receives the *same* signal, it doesn't matter the
number of speakers. It only gets tricky when the speakers are playing slightly
different signals (e.g. from a stereo song).

Performance and Optimization
The reasons I have posted these questions are: 1) To find out if Speex can
take advantage of SIMD extensions.
2) To maybe learn from someone with previous experience in optimizing Speex
for moderns x86 architectures before I set off trying all kinds of things on
my own.

AEC strangest behavior
Hello.
I have the following situation. AEC is used in network chat software
over DirectSound API. Echo and reference signals are almost aligned
(delay is no more than 30ms). When echo is emulated in notebook
(built-in speakers + mic) everything goes fine and echo is cancelled.
But when configuration includes stand-alone speakers and mic no echo is
removed. Audio is in 22050 hz at 16 bit

How to setup Rsync as an NT Service
For a recent project I needed to run Rsync as a service on Windows NT. The
following is a link to the instructions I created to recreate my steps.
http://members.home.net/cbollerud2/projects/rsync/NTService.html
The "no-fork" patch used here is very similar to the "no-detach" option
mentioned in many previous posts. I wish I could take credit for it, but I

AEC troubleshooting
First of all, thank you for your input Tim. That is very helpful.
I would love to hear from other people with experience of AEC and Speex.
I guess I have to split my question into to parts now.
1.
Is it a fact that using the windows multimedia API (wave audio) for audio
capture and playback makes it impossible to do echo cancellation with Speex
AEC or other EC method due to inprecise timing?

AEC Troubles
Hello?
I am a new user of speex.I am currently working on speex frames and I have some questions.
I am using narrowband and long tail length, and it works very well with speex test DEMO. But it is very difficult to have speaker input in perfect sync with mic input. Speex does not work at all.
Any suggestion?
Regards?

I actually forgot to mention that I'm using ultra-wideband mode, but seems
like you understood that anyway. Is this true that Speex echo cancellation
only performs well in narrowband mode !?
I've been using 100 ms as the default tail length. I don't know what the
ideal tail length would be. I have tried shorter and longer tails but it
hasn't made any difference.

Rsync / SSH / Cygwin .. permission problems..
I am attempting to use rsync to "mirror" data between several windows 2000
and windows XP systems. I am a UNIX person by nature, so decided the
easiest way to go about doing this would be to use Cygwin with cron and ssh
running as services, then run the rsync connection nightly through cron.
Cygwin is installed on both systems and works perfectly. OpenSSH is
installed and running,

I want to install rsync on the freebsd computer so I
can use it to backup some files/documents on my

I want rsync to run automatically every 6pm mon-sat.
I wanna ask if there is someone in this list who can
give me guidelines on how i can do this.
And another question I have is do I need to install
samba?
