Storing rsync secrets in LDAP
Hi, a few months ago I posted a message about using LDAP to store rsync secrets in LDAP. I received a response about patching the rsync source code with a patch file. I am now finally getting around to doing this, and when I tried to use the patch command 'patch --verbose ./rsync-2.5.6/authenticate.c rsync-ldap.patch' , it gives me the following error: Hmm... Looks like a unified diff

rsync & ldap authentication
Hi, I'm trying to get rsync 2.5.6 to authenticate users via openldap-2.0.23. I was looking through the mailing list archives and found a patch for rsync-2.4.6 that does this for me. I was just wondering if this is still valid, or if there has been a new patch or new implementation that has superceded this patch. Any help would be great. The message I am referring to is as follows:

[Patch] rsync-2.6.2: Allow 'port = N' in rsyncd.conf
Hi, If anyone is interested, the included patch to rsync-2.6.2 allows you to specify the port number for an rsync server as a global option in rsyncd.conf with 'port = <N>' (where <N> is your favorite port number). Note that this parameter only takes effect when the server is started, not when clients connect. Also, specifying the port in rsyncd.conf takes precedence

[PATCH] allow to disable SLP with runtime option
Hi everyone, I'd like to propose a patch for review. It enhances rsync when patched and compiled with slp support. It adds a new global boolean option, 'disable slp', which can be used to disable SLP advertisements at runtime. The idea behind this patch is to allow distributors to build rsync with SLP support compiled in, but to allow the users to turn it off without recompiling

Different Domain Login.
Well, I haven't received anything from the LIST as far as replys yet.. but I went through the source code and added what I needed. If you know which list is better to submit these changes to let me know. I added a option in the smb.conf: Default Authenticaion Domain What it does is if you have that option specified, it will do a comparision to see if the Domain specified by the user is the

Here is a diff which should allow applying batch updates remotely ( as apposed to copying the batch files to the remote server and running rsync there ). Eg rsync --write-batch=test src dst1::dst rsync --read-batch=test dst2::dst Oli Dewdney diff -E -B -c -r rsync-2.5.6/flist.c rsync-2.5.6-remotebatch/flist.c *** rsync-2.5.6/flist.c Sat Jan 18 18:00:23 2003 ---

Failed to set socket option
Hi, I run a Veritas cluster server with two different samba's 2.0.7 compiled with SUNWspro 4.0 (gcc 2.95 leads to the same results) on Solaris 7 UltraSPARC 60 server. One compiled with --prefix=/opt/samba-test the other with --prefix=/opt/samba-eng. To avoid using 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 when both smbd's running on the same cluster host I set this in both smbd.conf

syslog with PID
Hi, LOG_NDELAY is the only option for openlog() in dovecot 1.1.2. Wouldn't be LOG_NDELAY|LOG_PID as option parameter much more useful? Without logging the pid, it is impossible to match 'Disconnected' log entries and the corresponding session start/login. Therefore I suggest to use LOG_NDELAY|LOG_PID in the options of i_set_failure_syslog() at all 6 occurrences which passes it

Added functionality --compare-file and --compare-auto
Recently various needs for multiple version handling were discussed and I put forward a plan of mine. Subsequently the proposal for a --compare-file=<FILE> switch had support, so I have implemented this. I have also implemented an experimental --compare-auto which decides which file to match against using a rule. Instructions for patch: 1. Install rsync-2.5.6 source 2. "patch -p1

[patch] fixing scope id problems
hi*& Samba has troubles with joining to NT PDC, that has some scope id because: 1. smbpasswd does not know anything about scope id and you haven't any chance to join into NT PDC. 2. also many utils like smbmount doesn't know scope id 3. In smbclient you can specify scope id, but you should remember it and etc. It's not so usable. I'm asked about these problems in samba

More checks for param/loadparm.c
Here's a second set of diffs for sanity-checking smb.conf files. This one implements a basic set of checks on netbios names. No, it won't recognize someone using an ip address, but it will realize the dots don't belong: $ testparm Load smb config files from /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf WARNING: netbios name "127.0.0.1" contained a dot, which is only legal in DNS domain

Samba patch kludge-gmt fixes red files in WinCvs
Hi all, in our LAN we use a Samba server (version 2.2.9) on Linux (Debian Woody) to provide file services to workstations running (mostly) W2K. WinCVS is a GUI frontend to the popular CVS version control system. After the swap to and from daylight savings time WinCVS erroneously flags all files in cvs working directories on Samba shares as modified (because of the icon color WinCVS users refer to

PATCH: 'source environment' param and % token subs for 'netbios name'
Attached please find unified diffs against Samba 2.0.6. I'm hoping that others will find it useful and that it may even find its way into Samba 2.0.7 This patch does two things: - Modifies the handling of the 'netbios name' parameter so that standard_sub_basic() is run on its value when the 'netbios name' parameter is processed. This has to be done this way because

patch draft for extended attributes on linux
This draft patch adds support for transferring extended attributes with a new --xattr option. It ought to work on Linux with XFS or ext2/ext3 filesystems with the SGI/bestbits attribute system. It is partially working, but there seems to be some kind of hang bug while transferring the file list. I suspect it might be provoking a problem in io.c. You need to rerun autoconf, autoheader and
