rsync failures through ssh tunnels
I attempted to write a script that would connect to the remote rsync
server and run rsync and then close the connection.
I am finding that sometimes the backgrounded ssh session works -- and
sometimes note. I following the syntax at:
http://rsync.samba.org/firewall.html
though there is NO middle system.
heres the script with the commands just echoing the commands to the
screen. What I am

wildcards and nested files
I'm trying to use wildcards and nested files and I think there must be
a better way than what I'm doing. If I want to copy only these two
directories:
/etc
/home/*/.maildir
Is this the best way to do it:
rsync -arzv --delete-excluded --files-from 'files-from.txt'
--include-from 'include-from.txt' --exclude-from 'exclude-from.txt' /
rsyncuser at hostname:

_exit_cleanup(code=12, file=token.c, line=419): about to call exit(12)
Hy all,
I'm a new rsync user and my english may be poor.
I try to sync two folders between two machines using ssh and
2.6.9 rsync version on each.
My purpose is to sync only files called "*.lic" in each
subfolders.
On the source machine I want to sync :
/home/dps3/public/Lic/Lic
/home/dps3/public/Lic/Lic2
/home/dps3/public/Lic/Lic3
to
/home/dps3/public/Lic/Lic9

Rsync permissions...
I am transferring some files from a RH7.0 machine to a RH7.2 machine as root
with a cron job, using the following:

Some of the files transfer OK, but I get:

Using Augeas type to update sshd_config's AllowGroups
Hey gang,
I seem to be having a brain disconnect on how to get the Augeas type to
manage things that have multiple values (i.e. an Augeas tree) via Puppet.
If I run this in augtool:
augtool> set /files/etc/ssh/sshd_config/AllowGroups/1000 sshuser
augtool> save
I see this in /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
AllowGroups sshuser
However, if I try this in an Augeas type:

RSync and SSH problems
Hey all,
First off, I'm new to cygwin, rsync, and actually even ssh. I've used
ssh clients many times, but server side I'm a bit of a noob. Anyway,
here's my problem...
I set up a brand spankin new Windows XP box with only two apps
installed: copSSH and rsync. I need to tie down all security as tight as
possible. From what I've seen/read, it seems to me the only port I need

ZFS & small files
First - many, many congrats to team ZFS. Developing/writing a new Unix fs
is a very non-trivial exercise with zero tolerance for developer bugs.
I just loaded build 27a on a w1100z with a single AMD 150 CPU (2Gb RAM) and
a single (for now) SCSI disk drive: FUJITSU MAP3367NP (Revision: 0108)
hooked up to the built-in SCSI controller (the only device on the SCSI
bus).
My initial ZFS test was to

The exclude option of Rsync not work right.
Hello,
Can someone explain why my exclude option is not excluding filles as
instructed in my script below.
I have tried multiple methods and still have been unsuccessful in
excluding the one file "test.sql".
The methods I have tried are:
1. Removing EXTRAFLAG variable -a
2. Removing using -a
3. Option --include infront of --exclude and behind of --exclude.
4. rsync /software/testdir/

State of Gluster 3.4 alpha 3 NFS ACL support
Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here - just
built some new bricks running gluster 3.4 alpha 3 (from
http://download.gluster.org) with the objective of testing them to
replace some existing 3.2 systems in production.
The main thing I was after was NFS ACL support, however on getting
everything setup, I still don't seem to be able to see POSIX extended

Gluster clients can't see directories that exist or are created within a mounted volume, but can enter them.
We've got an issue with Gluster (3.12.x) where clients can't see directories that exist or are created within a mounted volume.
We can see files, but not directories (with ls, find etc...)
We can enter (cd) into directories, even if we can't see them.
- Host typology is: 2 replica, 1 arbiter.
- Volumes are: replicated and running on XFS on the hosts.
- Clients are: GlusterFS native

Samba 3.0.33 ACL rename/delete issue
Hello,
I have noticed some ALC issues with files and directories. I use samba
server 3.0.33 on CentOS 4.8 joined to Windows 2003 domain. Everything
works fine, all users are authenticated to domain controller. My aim is
to give FULL ACCESS (open/read/write/rename/delete..) to directory
"testdir" to two users, john and mark without using groups because I
have no permissions on domain

A problem with gluster 3.3.0 and Sun Grid Engine
Hi,
We got a huge problem on our sun grid engine cluster with glusterfs
3.3.0. Could somebody help me?
Based on my understanding, if a folder is removed and recreated on
other client node, a program that tries to create a new file under the
folder fails very often.
We partially fixed this problem by "ls" the folder before doing
anything in our command, however, Sun Grid Engine

Tidy symlinks
So, I have a directory of symlinks that I''m managing and Tidy doesn''t
seem to be doing much for me in there.
Does Tidy ignore symlinks for some reason?
If not, does anyone have the correct syntax?
Thanks,
Trevor

Gluster clients can't see directories that exist or are created within a mounted volume, but can enter them.
Do the users have permission to see/interact with the directories, in
addition to the files?

Inconsistent behavior using 3.1.2 from macOS 10.12.2 to an AFP mount
Hi,
I've been attempting to use rsync 3.1.2 to copy files from a macOS 10.12.2
system to an AFP mounted share. The command I'm using is:
rsync -avAX -M--fake-super ./testDir ./mnt/testDir/
This works fine and all the extended attributes are copied and readable.
I then try to use rsync to copy these files back with:
rsync -avAX --fake-super -M--super ./mnt/testDir/ ./testDir2/

exclude-from and include-from confusion
Learning rsync (love it) and am requesting some help in understanding the
exclude-from/include-from rules. I've been doing some testing and the
results aren't coming out as I expected.
Problem:
I have a directory with several dozen sub directories and would like to
selectively pick a couple dozen directories to remotely copy. The issue is
that there are a large number of directories and I

Gluster clients can't see directories that exist or are created within a mounted volume, but can enter them.
Hi,
Please provide the gluster volume info. Do you see any errors in the client
mount log file (/var/log/glusterfs/var-lib-mountedgluster.log)?
Thanks,
Nithya
