Really Weird Question.....
So I just got ahold of an old e-Machine (Model EL1600) with 1GB of memory. I was going to install CEntOS on it and try to run VirtualBox for other OS'es. I am curious to know if I have to stick with the 2GB "max" the specs say the machine can take or if its possible to install a 4GB module that is designed the same? In other words I have seen 2GB DDR PC2700 memory that will fit

VoIP providers -- California, U.S.
Hi, Just wondering if people could suggest a good VoIP provider that can service the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles area. I've tried race.com (recommended to me) but they're kind of hard to get ahold of. Any other suggestions? This is for a business, so reliability is key. I did see the recent thread about this, and while I saw a few mentioned, I didn't see anything

locking "issue"
Dear list, I personally think this is a non-issue, but I may be incorrect. If it is a non issue I need to find a way to get some communication going on making it evident to the devlopers of a software program. I have strict locking = YES (which is by default set to NO) set and I have been repeatedly told that there is a locking issue within SAMBA. I don't believe this is the case as we are

Trying to control the torrent of spam...
Someone got ahold of my information (actually, I know who they are - t2net.net - just not how to get back at them) and now I'm getting 4 phone calls a week upwards of 20 spams a day. I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for Evolution isn't working as well as it should I did some Googling on procmail and fetchmail and spamassassin config files and much

Freeamp output plug-in
Hello: I don't usually post requests like this to mailing lists, but I've just about run out of other options. The vorbis.org and vorbis.com sites both make mention of a beta vorbis output plug-in for freeamp, but I'm blowed if I can find it anywhere. It's definitely not in the vorbis.com download section (unless it's been placed their within the last 24 hours or so), and

Way to iterate over each associtaion
Is there a way with ActiveRecord to get ahold of a collection containing each association? I want to write a rake task that will dump a model and all its related models to yaml. Avaya 9640 Convert to SIP (slightly off topic)
Hi List, Ive got a bunch of Avaya IP9640 that we want to convert to SIP and then hook up to Asterisk so we can dump this overpriced Avaya system. Ive got ahold of the SIP firmware, but I cannot find anything on how to convert the phone itself to SIP, when I go into setup mode it wants a "command" which im guessing is the program code like the rest of the Avaya systems works. Has anyone

Silly questions due to ingrained knowledge of analog phone use.
Greetings all! I've got some really silly questions. I'm a technical guy, and I understand how the astrisk server works and how VOIP works, etc... The problem I have is that at my small company we have a phone system with analog lines and everyone here is comfortable with the concept of using them. I've never seen IP phones in action so I don't know how they work from a users

[LLVMdev] updated code size comparison
Hi Torok- > Could you also add a main() for each of these files, and do > a very simple test that the optimized functions actually work? Unfortunately, testing isolated C functions is much harder than just passing them random data! Consider this function: int foo (int x, int y) { return x+y; } The behavior of foo() is undefined when x+y overflows. If course it is trivial to come

Speed up rsync ,cwRsync and replay changes against a file
Hi guys, I recently installed and setup cwRsync on a Windows 2000 Server - http://www.itefix.no/cwrsync/ -, and I was very impressed. I just followed the instructions on the website and got it working. I am using it to mirror 30Gb's of mailboxes everynight (only grabbing the changes to each file), from a Windows 2000 box to a Linux box (RH9). The nightly replication takes approximately 8

[llvm] Query the target from an opt pass?
Hmmm, a quick look at the documentation for TargetTransformInfo doesn't look like it. In LegalizeDAG.cpp it uses TLI.getOperationAction() to find out if an SDNode should be expanded by the legalizer or passed down to the target. That's what I need to know, but I need it in a pass pre-legalization. This seems like weird layering, though. Having an "optimization" pass be looking

Intel/64 CentOS VM running on a Mac M1?
My Dell Precision M3800 running Fedora works great but is really starting to show its age, and I'm thinking about getting a new Mac M1-based laptop as it would really be useful for Video production. But I really need to have a IA64 CentOS 7/8 VMs running locally for development as I'm often on the road and flaky Internet makes it a necessity to keep productivity up. I've been

Kickstart-based Install, editing comps.xml, hdlist/hdlist2
Hello, all - I've been throwing the question around on the kickstart-list for the last few days here, and can't quite get ahold of things. Please, allow me to explain. I am in the process of making a custom CentOS/RHEL kickstart install. It works well right now; however, it's a hackjob, and I am not comfortable with it as of yet. For the past few days, I've even gone as far as

Rsync Performance In Windows
Has anyone else experienced high CPU usage when using RSYNC in windows 2000 server? I am using the rsync.exe (and applicable DLL's) from the cygwin installation (I am not however running cygwin on this machine). The linux machine connecting to the windows rsync daemon has a very low performance hit when the session is running (see below). However, the windows machine, which has a much

Recommend against Teliax as primary ITSP
I really hate to have to make a post like this, but I feel I have little choice but to relay to the group my experience with Teliax, and explain why I recommend against using them as a primary Voip-> PSTN provider. I hope that a letter like this will inspire companies like Teliax to work harder at customer service, as well as circuit stability. We need more companies that offer the types of

Coding problem: How can I extract substring of function call within the function
In order to ease my students into the R environment I am developing a package which installs a variety of utility functions as well as slightly modified versions of some standard R functions -- e.g. mean, hist, barplot, .... In my versions of these standard R functions I either add options or alter some defaults that seem to create difficulties for most of my students -- for example, when they do

Beating the authentication horse (dead yet?)
Guys, I''m frankly overwhelmed by the number of Rails authentication options(?) out there...from ActiveRBAC to acts_as_authenticated to LoginEngine and so on...so many options, yet on resource I''ve found really distinguishes between each. This is sad, as authentication and user management is really an area where some Rails simplicity pixie dust could be a real boon to
