pulling data from the server
Hi all, I have started the rsync in deamon mode. When I use the following command: rsync --port 9876 u018::treeA it seems to work fine but no files are copied from the server. Using rsync without the deamon works fine. I tried to debug it a little bit, but I am unable to figure out what's wrong. 337:david@u050 /export/treeA> rsync -r -vvv --port 9876 u018::treeA opening tcp

Coding columns for survival analysis
Hello Folks, I have 5 columns for thousands of tree records that record whether that tree was alive or dead. I want to recode the columns such that the cell reads "found" when a live tree is first observed, "alive" for when a tree is found alive and is not just found, and "mort" when it was previously alive but is now dead. Given the following: > tree_live

postmaster alias
I have dovecot configured to use an LDAP database for mail delivery with dovecot-lda. All of of my user accounts and aliases work fine except for postmaster@ which consistantly bounces. I have compared the entry for postmaster with another working alias and see no difference. When I send mail to postmaster I get the following in the logs: Jun 11 02:11:13 server1 postfix/pipe[12083]: 6D6CF33444:

Samba 1.9.18p8 shared read-only?
Hi, I recently upgraded to 1.9.18p8 on Solaris 2.6 and am having a problem with writable services other than [homes]. [apps] is one that's causing the most difficulty. Users are being logged into writable shares as user 'nobody' and are not permitted write access. The shares are set as 'writable' and 'write ok'. host equiv does not have an effect either. All hosts

mgcp transfer takeback with ata186 (logs with comments - long post)
Hi, in following of a recent discussion I got to work on MGCP with the Cisco ATA186 again, and got it to work very nicely. However, there is a little thing with transfers I would like to get comments on: Call comes in from PSTN and goes to an ATA186 (MGCP) Call is answered and then, using flash, transferred to another extension If the extension is available, there can be an announcement and

MGCP and call waiting, doesn't work.
Hey guys, can you shead some light on this? I will copy my mgcp.conf and post below, but here is the problem. I can't get call waiting to work with my MGCP device. I already have one call going, and I can hear the second call come in, I flash over to it, but all I get is a dial tone, * puts the 1st call on mute/hold, but I never get the second, and it terminates. I flash back over and pick

I am trying to send a manuscript to a journal. One of the figures build by R is in the right orientation and 4 are rotated clockwise 90 deg in the preview. I used the right click save to PS option and I used the command line postscript("c:/temp/fig04.eps",bg="transparent",onefile = TRUE ,pointsize=20,paper = "letter",height=8,width=8,horizontal=FALSE,family =

[Bridge] Unexpected behaviour
Hi, I've set up a bridge using the 2.6.11.6 kernel. The machine is running Debian testing with three NICs in it. eth0 is a standard 100Mb Intel NIC, eth1 and eth2 are both Intel gigabit cards using the e1000 driver. I tested everything at 100Mb and it worked fine. I moved the machine into production, eth1 plugging into a dumb 100Mb D-link switch, eth2 plugging into a shiney new Cisco

Linux HA may not be the best choice in your situation. High Availability using 2 sites
Just to clarify, I'm looking at this from an application layer Point of View. One of the reasons why I'm looking at it that way, is because Tim said he was looking at LinuxHA..."application level" redundancy that uses IP. Tim, just to let you know, I don't believe that LinuxHA will work in the way you described, only because of the different IP ranges. It looks like Linux

totally confused, samba flipflop fuctionality
It's working from the linux box and not the xp then it's not Yes I try making corrections and this probably accounts for the confusion and broken samba communication. I just never seem to be able to come up with a working working configuration. Exception: smbclient; I can mount the XP share in a directory on my Linux box or at least the last time I checked. I have to turn off the

How can rpm "%{SUMMARY}" not be consistent?
I have been seeing something for quite some time which has confused me considerably for over a year, perhaps one of you can help me understand. Assumed: rpm queries are against _a_ database. Assumed: database queries against the same database, without changes to the data in the database, will return the same data. Confusion: then why are some of the summaries reported by rpm different? Each day
