Problem with --link-dest when syncing AIX to Linux
Hello,
i'm using rsync 2.6.0 for daily-syncing some remote AIX 5.2 machine to a
local linux (RH 7.3) with using the --link-dest option for saving space
on incremental backups.
Even if there are no changes on the AIX machine, all files are newly
transferred on every new sync.
My test scenario (actisi=remote aix machine, actisa=local linux machine):

[PATCH] Support symlinks in scp of openssh 2
I'm fond of the "-a" (archive) option of cp, and I'm a heavy user of
scp, so I guess it's inevitable that I would eventually add support
for "-a" to scp. :-) Actually, it's a "-L" flag for preserving
symlinks, and a "-a" flag that is shorthand for "-Lpr".
Please let me know if I'm not doing this right.... I made a great

smbsh always segfaults
Version 2.0.5a (same prob w/2.0.4b, though). smbsh segfaults after I
enter my password. As root, it just seg faults. As my login user, it

Attached is a script of an strace of it.
Running RH 6.0, kernel 2.2.10, AMD K6-2/350, 64M RAM. Configure options

[PATCH]: scp program improved
Hi,
I have made a patch which improves scp utility. It adds two new features:
rate limit and resume support. With rate limit it's possible to limit
transfer speed. Resume allows to continue file transfer where it was last
interrupted. Also the progress meter was improved.
Here is my patch, please send comments about it and what I can do better
if there is something to fix.

itemize() needs to use CHMOD_BITS (patch)
When syncing from Linux to Aix --itemize-changes with --perms lists
directories every time because the high-order st_mode bits for
directories differ between the two systems, and itemize() isn't masking
them with CHMOD_BITS. Here is a fix, tested with 2.6.6pre1.

more info from me. Thanks.

[BUG] Reflinking fails for files >2GB on 32-bit platform
I want to make you aware of a possible bug in the reflink handling of btrfs:
When I reflink a file larger 2GB (on the same subvol), the reflinking
fails. But it works fine for files smaller 2GB in size.
I was able to track this down to btrfs with great support of Martin
Raiber who created a small demo code:

cc & no 64bit int patches
Here are a couple of patches against the CVS (Jan 22 18:41 PST)
Some C++ comments found their way into ssh.h
The no64.patch puts ifdefs around buffer_get_int64()
now in bufaux.[c,h]

Samba 4.3.11 accessing disk every minute
The latest version that Western Digital has shipped with the My cloud devices accesses the disk
about twice a minute. The access to /dev/sda2 is causing the system to keep the disk from going
into standby mode. I don't understand the call to quotactl every minute when no one is trying to access the share.
An strace of one of the processes shows the following:

[PATCH 5/5] COM32/rosh: Improvements
From: Gene Cumm <gene.cumm at gmail.com>
COM32/rosh: Improvements; ls acts more like ls with -l -i and -F being
understood; Lots of code clean up and user assistance.
Clean up the MCONFIG file; Clean up the code to get it to pass
checkpatch.pl (aside from confusion on multi-line strings); Add a
little more in the error function to recognize different errors;

Multiset Permutations
Dear R users,
I want to perform an exact permutation of multisets. I have looked at the
coin package, but it doesn't seem to offer what I am looking for. I want to
perform permutations (exact - without duplications) on multisets of scalars
(e.g., the multiset 0,0,1,2,2). I want to output all the possible
permutations into a data frame so that each multiset permutation occupies a
row (or

question about smbmount as user
Hi,
It has been a while since I used samba so for all purposes I could be seen
as a newbie.
Recently I installed samba and ran into a problem mounting shares as a user.
I can work around this, no problem, but I'm curious about the *why*.
Searching the mailing list (and other resources) did not reveal this
problem, that's why I ask here.

scp bug: newly created dirs do not inherit sgid bit
Dear developers,
I discovered that directories created by scp when recursive
copying into a sgid directory do not inherit the sgid bit. I believe
this is a bug. A patch to fix this is attached.

Petr Skovron
