rsync-2.5.0 patch for "make check" bug
Attached is a patch for rsync 2.5.0 to fix the "make check" option.
The find command was not being passwd the current directory in the
hands.test and longdir.test testsuites, which caused them to fail
on SunOS 4.X and Solaris 2.X systems.

portable tests for symlinks (was patch for autoconf manual)

Yes, I'd be happy to help.
I can't promise that the solution outlined below works everywhere, but
it has been tested on a number of unix-like platforms and seems to be
OK. I suppose at least making people aware of the problem is better
than nothing.
Basically, we ended up using

patches for copying atimes
Hi.
Here's a patch for copying the atimes of files when -t/--times is
given. I bumped the protocol to 29 since it sends more data over the
wire. It obviously does not send the atime if it's sending data to an
older rsync version.
It passes all the tests (including the added atime.test) for me on a:
Linux Debian/3.0 gcc 2.95.4 (debian), glibc 2.2.5 system.
Any questions/feedback? I

[PATCH] Unsnarl missing_below/dry_run logic.
The generator can skip a directory's contents altogether due to
--ignore-non-existing, a daemon exclude, or a mkdir failure. On a --dry-run,
the generator can also note the missingness of a directory while still scanning
its contents. These two scenarios were conflated using a single set of
missing_below/missing_dir variables in combination with transient increments in
dry_run; this caused

Rsync 2.5.6 ssh-basic.test patch
Rsync folks:
I couldn't get the ssh tests to work in rsync 2.5.6 and it doesn't appear
that they ever could have worked. There were two problems with the script
I noticed:
1) The "from" directory is never populated with files to test. It looked
like the "hands_setup" function from rsync.fns was designed for this, so I
added it in.
2) The "F1" variable

improved atime patch
I posted a patch a few days ago that adds copying of atime. At that
time, it was just enabled with -t/--times. After some time, we have
figured out that that choice might not have been the best. Here's a
new version of the patch (relative to CVS) that adds -A/--copy-atime
instead. It also includes a test case.
Any feedback on this patch and/or the previous one that I posted?

[PATCH v2, resend] ignore-non-existing-directory: add variant of ignore-non-existing
Add new option --ignore-non-existing-directory, that is a variant of
--ignore-non-existing, but applies ONLY to directories.
This was previously proposed in bug #8366, but I independently had a use
case for it in the Gentoo infrastructure.

[PATCH] x86/HVM: move per-vendor function tables into .init.data
hvm_enable() copies the table contents rather than storing the pointer,
so there''s no need to keep these tables post-boot.
Also constify the return values of the per-vendor initialization
functions, making clear that once the per-vendor initialization is
complete, the vendor specific tables won''t get modified anymore.
Finally, in hvm_enable(), use the returned pointer for all

make check's diff -u vs -c
Wayne, i like the diff -u idea. I find -c awkward.
It seems to me that the shell script could test for support
of -u and if present use it instead of -c. ala

grouped lattice plot with overall regression line
I'd like to draw a lattice plot with groups. The groups (the grouping condition, fns) are successfully marked with separate symbols, using the following code:
xyplot(T~A|speaker,groups=fns,pch=1:3,key=list(space="right",points=list(pch=1:3)),type=c("g","p","r"))
Here's a hard part. This draws regression lines for each group in each panel (there are

Possible patch for Irix Makefile problem
I am guessing that since the error is on the first instance of
the use of
foo$(VAR): foo.o
construct, that the Irix makefile parser doesn't know how to
deal with this line. Obviously they don't use GNU make....
So here is a patch to Makefile.in that simplifies the use of
variables. This only uses constructs that should work in all
makes. It should not break anything, and it

BugReport: rsync fails it's own "regression" test "chmod-option"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Recent versions of rsync have a "regression test" called
"chmod-option" that when run fails, this should be causing rsync to be
rejected as broken by all distros and sysadmins.
A bit of research show that no one has mentioned this test since it
was last worked on in late September, nor does it show up as a current

[RFC][PATCH][UPDATED] Intel(R) LaGrande Technology support
This patch adds SMP support to the previous version. Since that has not
been merged I have included it in this patch. This should apply cleanly
to the tip. Below is the text of the original submittal, slightly
updated.
Attached is a preliminary patch that adds Intel(R) LaGrande Technology
(LT) (Safer Mode Extensions - SMX) support to Xen. While there are
still several enhancements needed for
