Question about acls
Hi, I''m not much of a developer but I''ve been using backgroundrb for a while now and with the release of 0.2.1 it looks like I can finally upgrade from the old version (0.2.0 had some weird issues when jobs just wouldn''t run, seems to have cleared up now - Thanks!). Anyhow, while I''m doing this, I would like to tackle this problem. Most tasks I run in

uninitialized constants in worker class
I am new to this list and relatively new to the backgroundrb plugin,. So first i will say hello to everybody here, especially to Ezra Zygmuntowicz! I played a little bit with a dummy worker and so far everything worked well. But now i want to do real work in a worker but now i get that error[1]. It looks like that the constants configured in environment* configs are not available to the worker

Tasks get executed twice with repeat_every
I have a simple worker that I set up with repeat_every: class DueNoteQueuerWorker < BackgrounDRb::Rails repeat_every 1.minutes first_run Time.now def do_work(args) @logger.debug("Sending due notes. The current time is #{Time.now}") end end I want this to run every minute, all the time. The first run is fine, but it seems that subsequent runs get executed

Cannot start workers in production mode
I have a job that I am starting from a Rails controller in production mode using MiddleMan: MiddleMan.new_worker(:class => :import_ccg_category_worker, :args => { :category_id => @category.id, :remote_category_id => params[:remote_category_id], :description => "Importing CCG products for #{@ category.name}" }) Both of the category ID variables are just basic integers. backgroundrb.yml not generated
I''m trying to do the tutorial at http://www.infoq.com/articles/BackgrounDRb. A little more than half-way through it says "Upon instalation, the plugin writes a config file into RAILS_ROOT/config/backgroundrb.yml." It didn''t happen for me. I installed the plugin with: ruby script\plugin install svn:\\rubyforge.org//var/svn/backgroundrb It added a bunch of files,

Scheduled worker dies after about 30-45 runs
I have a scheduled worker that runs every minute, checking for new eBay auctions to post. If it finds an auction, then it posts it. If there are no auctions in the database that are queued up, it simply does nothing. I got the worker to finally run as a scheduled worker, every minute. However, after about 30-45 scheduled runs, it simply stops running. My backgroundrb_schedules.yml file: ------

Very strange after_save problem. Please help.
I have a very strange problem here. I do not get this. So any help is greatly appreciated. Basically I have a model that calls a method in the background process in the "after_save" method. Let''s call the model products. So what happens is this: 1. I create a new product. 2. Everything works and the product is saved with id 13. 3. A method is called in my background

schedule support on latest svn, a question
I''m running the latest backgroundrb mainly for scheduled tasks support. As per the documentation I created the backgroundrb_schedules.yml with the following: simple_label: :class: :document_sorter_worker :worker_method: :do_work :job: :bleh :trigger_args: :start: <%= Time.now + 5.seconds %> :end: <%= Time.now + 10.minutes :repeat_interval: 1.minute Under

How to store a Mechanize object in the database?
Hi, I am trying to save a Mechanize object in database (using a Rails Model). But the save operation throws a TypeError Considering that "agent" is an instance of a Rails Model and "user" is defined as a "text" type in the Model. irb(main):039:0> agent.user = WWW::Mechanize.new #<WWW::Mechanize:0xb71295f0 @follow_meta_refresh=false, @key=nil,

backgroundrb launches concurrent instances of same job
Hi there, Backgroundrb is working pretty well for me but I have a job that launches two of the same job, apparently a minute(?) apart from each other. Should this be happening if I have repeat interval enabled with a job_key? It seems like it should wait until the job is finished before launching a new instance. --Backgroundrb_schedules.yml-- city_updater: :class: :city_updater_worker

scheduled_task created but didn't see task under 'Task Scheduler' GUI
Hi All, I created a scheduled_task resource and applied it. Puppet claimed that it did added successfully but when I go into the ''Task Scheduler'' GUI, no such task exist. When I delete the same scheduled_task, Puppet found it and deleted it. Deleting the same scheduled_task twice, Puppet would do nothing. That seems to me that the task did created at the first place,

backgroundrb / actionmailer / sendmail
Hello, I''m trying to send emails from a backgroundrb worker and the email doesn''t send. I get no log messages in the sendmail log or the system log, nothing in the backgroundrb logs at all, nothing in the production log. Below is my code for each component worker: class QuizReviewerWorker < BackgrounDRb::MetaWorker set_worker_name :quiz_review_sender def create(args =

backgroundrb preview
Hi Ezra/skaar, Wow man, the exercise was worth it. The connection closed problem with socket as i mentioned in my earlier mails...completely disappeared, and now i can connect only once to the socket and keep reading..till end of its days. Literally impossible with older release of backgroundrb. This could also potentially solve the issues people were having with ActiveRecord. As i said

{worker} after :end-time worker freaks out
Hi all, i was using bdrb a while ago and it wasn''t stable enough in version 0.2.1 for doing the job - it loss jobs or did execute only the first one invoked and so on. Now i gave the new version a try and i found a bug at playing around. When i start a worker_method over the normal Unix scheduler bdrb will start as much as possible the worker_method after the :end-time is reached.
