spam control
Gents, I have added the following to /etc/mail/sendmail.mc and rebuilt it trying to control spam. I still get about 25 spam messages a day. Is there something else that can help control spam? Spam to this list
Hi, I'm not sure what the policy of this list is and I bet everyone has a spam filter, so nobody might have noticed, but we got spammed. Can anyone send mail to the list or do you have to subscribe first ? -- dag wieers, dag@wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/ -- [all I want is a warm bed and a kind word and unlimited power]

[info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail. Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's list traffic. -- mail to this

postfix and spam, I am impressed
I have had the same email address since 1997 (when microsoft stole bob.com from me thanks to network solutions...) In the early days I of course was free with my email and used it everwhere. Fast forward to 2012, some 15 years later. woof..the amount of spam sent to me has always just kept getting worse and worse. On my centos 5 server I just used sendmail with spamassassin and it killed a

Crash test :)
I'm considering to move my mails from maildir/mbox to mdbox. One of my doubts is: how can I restore my mails when something terrribly wrong happens. I understand that I should use doveadm import "backup_location" "mailbox" all. So I try to import with: doveadm -v import "sdbox:~/Mail/dbox-temp/spamcop/reports/" "#Dbox/spamcop/reports" all #Dbox

Trying to control the torrent of spam...
Someone got ahold of my information (actually, I know who they are - t2net.net - just not how to get back at them) and now I'm getting 4 phone calls a week upwards of 20 spams a day. I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for Evolution isn't working as well as it should I did some Googling on procmail and fetchmail and spamassassin config files and much

[OT] Reporting Spam
All of you on this list are familiar with how DNS works. You probably use spam blocking lists (SBL) for your email servers? In case someone is interested in building accurate SBL, Spamcop is a service that allows you to easily report spam by sending in the headers. It can be automated by procmail or whatever as well. Spamcop does a deep analysis of the headers of a message and totally ignores what

SASL attacks and SPAM
I wanted to pass this along. I'm sure it may be nothing new to most of you, but it has greatly reduced sasl attacks and spam. I found most of it here: https://scottlinux.com/2011/05/26/prevent-postfix-brute-force/ I added the fail2ban rule and modified my postfix main.cf as follows: smtpd_client_connection_rate_limit = 3 smtpd_delay_reject = yes smtpd_helo_required = yes

spam filtering with centos 5.2
In the past I've used a combination of spamhaus combined RBL's and Spamassassin with Mailscanner as my spam recipe, but this stopped working very well for me well over a year ago. As many of the users of the couple small/personal mail servers I run are NOT technical people, and use POP to read their mail, 'training' spamassassin is difficult at best. Once upon a time, using

Discussion: Spam on R-help
[re-sending this one since it apparently didn't get through yesterday] Hi Folks, I just had a look at the r-help archive for the still-young month of August, and happened to notice that out of 49 postings there, 20 were assorted spam of all-too-familiar types. I'm wondering (discussion point) whether this might suggest that the list should adopt a more restrictive policy. Apparently, as
