Is there anyway to keep rsync from reporting an error when attempting to sync pagefile.sys (through a samba share)? It seems like any type of exclusion of the file gets ignored, why is that? Anyway around it? Also, of experimented with the exclude-from syntax quite a bit and haven't figure out how you could just backup all .doc files on a file system and exclude everything else. Hi, I am runing rsync --backup --backup-dir=$BACKUPDIR where the BACKUPDIR=$(date +%d) to recycle the $BACKUPDIR in a month. But rsync does not clean the $BACKUPDIR before writing to it in cycling.
