time to say good-bye to win 7 / printer is the last blocker
I have picked up the HP LaserJet 1022n on eBay. It is black and white only, but works well with Linux and all versions of Windows I have available. They are generally inexpensive on eBay and the tone is cheap. I can get 4 toner cartridges for around $25 on eBay. It is small, dependable, and makes a good second printer. Most printing is usually black and white. I actually have 3 of them

Ok here we go... toner cartridges
According to some newsgroups and various (unconfirmed places), this guy had to pay $1000 a pop to each person he spammed back in the day. Below is his email if you want to spam him. To all those who care: http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~gcaselton/spam/benchmark.html http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/7468.html Since the victory in the courts, the name Benchmark Print Supply has

Re: iptool (ink reset canon question)
The printer's firmware reconizes electronic signatures of cartridges, nothing you can do (short of flashing you printers bios, which will render it a door stop) is going to get that cartridge to recognize as full. getting rid of hp c3180
I have a hp photosmart C3180 all-in-one and am well and truly sick of it. It seems like every time I go on another printing binge, I need yet another print cartridge. hp-clean doesn't help. IIRC this use it or lose it "feature" is common to inkjets. What should I replace it with? If I want a non-cloggging printer, is laser jet the way I need to go? I'd like to do color

More so the low end printers that vendors love to toss in for free. They cost more in ink than they are worth. We need to lobby the govt to regulate prices on ink ;) -- Sincerely, William L. NUT uses port 3493 for everything
The NUT project uses port 3493 to receive traffic to the upsd server. Unlike the protocols http (80) and https (443), NUT has no specific port for encrypted traffic. For the upsdTLS.py daemon. I squatted port 563, but it would be much better to have an officially assigned port. Port 3494 was at one time assigned to ibm3494 3494/tcp # IBM 3494 [Jeffrey_Pilch] ibm3494

how do I use only black ink?
I have an HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one. As I haven't had any need for color lately, when I last replaced ink, I only replaced the black cartridge. It didn't work, even when printing grayscale-only images, even when telling print-set-up grayscale-only. Is there a way to tell my printer to use only the black ink cartridge. My test image is a handmade postscript file that only use setgray

SOHO colour laser printer recommendations
Hi List, I'd really appreciate some recommendations for colour laser printers for use with CentOS. It's for light home use with CentOS 5 and CentOS 6 systems. Must have: 1. Colour. Quality not that important as mainly for kids school project type of stuff. 2. Ethernet connectivity - want something I can plug into the network 3. Cheap running costs - don't want to be spending a

Canon PIXMA mg5420 or HP Photo Smart 7520
In need of a new printer, having done a bit or research, and considering either the Canon PIXMA mg5420 or the HP Photo Smart 7520. There are Linux drivers for the Photosmart which are supposed to handle both the printer and the scanner. But in my research I haven't found (yet) anyone who's gotten the scanner to work with Linux on the Photosmart, let alone the sheet feeder for it.

CentOS Server Backup Options
What do you guys recommend for backing up a small CentOS server in a business environment. It will have (3) 300gb drives in a raid 5 array but I don't anticipate more than about 25gb of data that needs to be backed up each night. I want a lot of backups with a rotation scheme that included daily, weekly, and monthly copies. I want the daily copies of the data kept until the next week, and
