security=server, port 445 and winnt
Hi folks, I'm running several samba servers that use "security= server" and "password server" to point authentications to a WinNT pdc. Snooping at the network traffic, I find that the samba server initially tries to connect to the WinNT server through port 445 (which fails), then reverts to 139 (which succeeds). I know it's possible to use the "samba

WinXP looking for *.dll share names?
Hi folks, Over the last few weeks, one of our WinXP machines (of many) has started generating errors like the following in our log files: Jul 5 09:43:30 blah smbd[13180]: blah-xp (192.168.1.1) couldn't find service sharename.dll where "sharename" is a real share name that this user should be mapping. We see lots of these errors, one for each share the user tries to map. In

Permission errors when creating/reading files in users' mail directories
Hi folks, I'm trying to migrate an old uw-imap server to dovecot, and running into puzzling (to me) permission problems. I've configured mail_location as follows: mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u and each user's mail directory has permissions like this: drwx------ 2 uid gid 4096 Jul 5 09:26 /home/uid/mail But when I try to check a user's mail using

nmblookup receives response, but doesn't show it
Hi folks, I find that nmblookup seems to be receiving responses to name queries, but ignoring them. Here's what's happening: # nmblookup somehost querying somehost on x.y.255.255 name_query failed to find name somehost But watching the transaction with ethereal on the local host, I see that: 1. nmblookup on local udp port nnnn (some random number above 1024) sends an nbns

dovecot is working, sort of
I have dovecot setup and authenticating away for local users, but when I try to add MySQL users from postfix admin, not only does that fail, but all authentication fails. This configuration does not work: doveconf -n # 2.2.5: /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE i386 namespace inbox { inbox = yes location = mailbox Drafts { special_use = \Drafts }

gnu --target-dir, how to fake with rsync?
Is this in rsync and I just can't find it, or if not, is there a way to fake this OR, third possibility, is anyone working to add it? For those who've never used this option - for the GNU cp & mv type commands they have the --target-dir="dir" option. It lets you put the destination directory as the first argument to cp and mv instead of the last argument. They added the

Compromised
My wife's office server was compromised today. It appears they ssh'ed in through account pcguest which was set up for Samba. (I don't remember setting up that account, but maybe I did.) At any rate, I found a bazillion "ftp_scanner" processes running. A killall finished them off quickly, I nuked the pcguest account, and switched ssh to a different port (which I normally do

I tried nuking all the zaptel stuff in the system and the source and started over agian. Also nuked the asterisk config files.... I saw this asked once before but there was no reply :-/

In my case i enabled his misc and extras repo on a test machine and - it proceeded to install apt that nuked the dag and centos list files. - It also installed a very new version of wine, wine-devel and wine-tools that broke my wine apps. the centOS rpms from winehq work like champs. [LLVMdev] Adding code after compilation
Hi, I want to be able add a function to a module after it is (partly) compiled in JIT. Let's say we have these functions: Foo() { Stuff; } Bar() { Foo(); MoreStuff; } I want to have a module with Foo optimized and have a callable pointer to Foo. Later, I want to generate Bar, optimize it (so Foo is inlined) and than get a callable pointer to Bar. Is this possible? If so, is there a way to

[LLVMdev] viewGraph
Hi, I am trying to use the viewGraph() method of SelectionDAG, of course I installed graghviz, nuked my build directory, reconfigured and rebuilt the project. However, gdb does not consistently recognize SelectionDAG::viewgraph(), some times it finds it and some times it says that llvm::SelectionDAG does not have viewGraph(). It worked for couple of instances when I was in my modules but when for

I installed plesk(first mistake at least here..<G>) and it got in my way in some area more than it helped. The first thing it did was deny root access to mysqld and i could not find the username and password for adding another database. I removed plesk and mysql. when i used yum to reinstall mysql i was then told root @ localhost was denied. I removed mysql again and nuked all of
