Create a time interval from a single time variable
I am trying to set up a data set for a survival analysis with time-varying covariates. The data is already in a long format, but does not have a variable to signify the stopping point for the interval. The variable DaysEnrolled is the variable I would like to use to form this interval. This is what I have now: ID Age DaysEnrolled HAZ WAZ WHZ Food onARV

Flag file management techniques using rsync
G'day, I am just getting into rsync and have been very impressed with performance and reliability. There is one thing I haven't worked out how to do yet and I haven't found much with several Google sessions or by way of consulting the examples. I am looking for a way to check for (or duplicate) single flag files to and from a remote host (without any dummy spit errors when it is not

Problem with compiling shared C/C++ library for loading into R (Linux)
I am using the .Call interface to call c++ code from R. For that, I am trying to create a dynamic library (mylib.so) using "R CMD SHLIB" by linking my own c++ code and an external c++ library (blitz++). The makefile works fine on my Mac, produces mylib.so and I am able to call .Call() from R, but on a linux server (I think Debian), I got the following error: ---------- /usr/bin/ld:

Using command line --file or -f

Fwd: WHO Anthro growth curve macros and R&In-Reply-To=<CAAOCNNZawGtKkWpgFMYADSyxWGTeWEDxqVVHv7=Azo=1G+H9gg@mail.gmail.com>
Dear Gustaf, I wish you a happy new year! I am a PhD Staff at LSHTM and I have been trying to use WHO anthro macros in R with the file you posted on internet but when I double check the WHZ, HAZ, WAZ output with output from ENA or STATA, it differs slightly. Do you have any idea why that might be the case? Many thanks Severine

strace clang refers files from lib/tls/x86_64 multiple times
Greetings! Sample program: int main(int argc, char **argv) { int myLocal=0xAA; return 0; } Command: clang t.c -o a.o -c With above simple program we are observing that clang is stat-ing and trying to open various files from lib/tls location. Eventually all calls to "lib/tls" leads to ENOENT (No such file or directory)! <sample_strace>

S3, S4, namespace
I have encountered an issue which I have been unable to resolve, involving an S3 generic (print) being declared S4 generic in a package, and the method being exported. This all works fine - the problem occurs when I try to import the method to another package. Here is the bit that works fine. ------------- #the .r file for package bar

When opening a file it takes up to half a minute!
Greetings, in our small network with about 10 Clients I got a problem when opening files or directories. If there were no actions between server and client for about 2 minutes or more, the very first action (open file, change path, etc) needs a long long time. The problem occurs on some clients (win 2k/xp), but not on every client. I tried a working smb configuration from home, but still no

EADS6550 and asterisk - echo on PSTN call
Hi list, would like to know if some of you have tested asterisk connected to an EADS 6550 analogique PBX (also know as Nexpan50). Our set up is a Dell Optiplex with 1 TDM400 4 FXO, 1 TDM400 4 FXS, (no other card, each of them have their own IRQ) all ports connected to the EADS. We have GS ATA286 as EP. Calling from ATA to ATA give a perfect sound. Calling to PSTN numbers or reverse side,

Monitor DTMF problems
Hello We have discovered a problem with DTMF on Asterisk. We have a setup with a T1 from PSTN going into an Asterisk box, and then out again on T1 and into a normal PBX (EADS) We use it to record all calls going to/from the PBX. The problem is that when we record the calls (with MONITOR command), DTMF tones gets obscured, and is not understood in the other end, if we dont Monitor, there are no

-4 / -ipv4 doesn't work
Hi, I try to connect to a host that has IPv4 and IPv6, but IPv6 is currently blocked by ACL's. My host also has IPv6 and IPv4. When I pass the -4 or --ipv4 option to rsync, it doesn't pass it to ssh: $ rsync -4 -r -v -v -v -v -l --del . SOMEUSER@SOMEHOST:SOMEPATH cmd= machine=SOMEHOST user=SOMEUSER path=SOMEPATH cmd[0]=ssh cmd[1]=-l cmd[2]=SOMEUSER cmd[3]=SOMEHOST cmd[4]=rsync

question about file {} type
My class reads like: class name1::name2 ($gidvariable) { file { "somepath-to-file": ensure => file, mode => ''0640'', gid => $gidvariable, } } The problem is that the file isn''t getting set to the $gidvariable''s value which is a string "abc". The other things work (presence as file, mode). Stuart -- You

Band-wise Conditional Sum - Actual problem
Dear R helpers, Thanks a lot for your earlier guidance esp. Mr Davind Winsemius Sir. However, there seems to be mis-communication from my end corresponding to my requirement. As I had mentioned in my earlier mail, I am dealing with a very large database of borrowers and I had given a part of it in my earlier mail as given below. For a given rating say "A", I needed to have the bad-wise

Array of files and other questions...
Hi I''m quite new to the art of writing puppet manifest, but the more I see, the more I like it :-) I''m trying to write a djbdns dnscache module. dnscache configuration is spread in several files, for instance the ip addresses allowed to query the cache each have a file in dnscache/root/ip/ whose filename is the address. I''m trying to automate the creations of those

Samba High Availability
We're using Samba, and it's working very well, however I'm interested in finding out what approaches would work for having some sort of redundancies in place in case the main server crashes. Is there anything in place for Samba in order to have some sort of backup in place in case the main server crashes. The reason is that the server is critical to the company's business, and
