pop3_lock_session and NFS
Hello,
I need an advice about POP3 and NFS with Dovecot 1.0 (as 1.1 is still
tagged beta) .
I currently have all messages and indexes under a NFS partition . I
thus turned cache off using actimeo=0 .
Of course, my current architecture does not allow me to keep the same
user on the same dovecot server.
Now, I have some NFS issues with high percentages of getattr() .
If I understood well, the

Rsync error 23 /Partial transfer / workaround needed (fwd)
Hi, I posted a list of problems I was having with rsync 2.5.5 (on
Digital Unix 4.0f) which I've now been able to address thanks to some
kernel tuning but I still have one outstanding problem - I still have
situation where files which are added to the filelist for updating on
the remote end are deleted by the client systems' web software
before they are sent - at least I believe this is

Failed building 3.0.30 for tru64 4.0F
Dear friends,
I failed to buld samba 3.0.30 for tru64unix 4.0F.
I am curently locked to this os version due to other production
software.
We currently run Samba 2.2.8a but we were requested to upgrade by our
network group.
I downloaded 3.3.30 and did
$ cd source
$ ./configure
no warnings or errors as far as I could see, except
checking for replacing readdir using getdirentries()...

Disk free space, quotas and GPFS
I am migrating the main file servers at work onto a new storage platform
based on GPFS. I am using RHEL 5.6 with the samba3x packages (aka 3.5.4)
recompiled to get the vfs_gpfs and tsmsm modules, with a couple of extra
patches to vfs_gpfs module to bring it 3.5.8 level. It is running with
ctdb against Windows AD 2008 R2 domain controllers with all the
idmapping been held in the AD.

Possible exclude bug in 2.5.5 in rsyncd.conf
Hello all,
I've found some behavior in 2.5.5 that is contrary to the documentation
in the man page.
Specifically, I'm running an rsync server (i.e. from inetd with
--daemon),and in the module definition I'm specifying the line "exclude
nosyncdir". The documentation for rsyncd.conf indicates that this is
exactly equivalent to using "--exclude nosyncdir" on the

rsync 2.5.5 and the exclude directive - additional behavior
And, I've found more.
It turns out that even though the exclude directive is ignored for
inbound data in rsyncd.conf, it is NOT ignored for the --delete option.
I've seen this behavior occur when I've deleted a file from the sending
side (client) that is inside a tree that's matched by the server-side
(rsyncd) exclude directive. The deletion is ignored, as the

rsync 2.5.5 hanging
I've been through the archive and found nothing definitive on this.
However, I am definitely seeing rsync hanging. I'm rsyncing from a

rsync 2.5.5 consuming memory and spirals server down
Hi there,
I've a problem with rsync - see below.
(by the way: I'm using rsync since 2 years now, good work!)
my environment:
- linux, 2.4, Dual-PIII-1.2GHz, 1 GB RAM. more of these machines.
- rsync 2.5.5
- openssh 3.3
the machines are on a lan, so bandwith is not a problem.
I sync large directories (about 6 GB growing) between the machines,
no problem - memory consumtion of rsync is
