Ethernet bridge overflow ?
Hello, I''ve setuped an ethernet bridge on a debian sarge 3.1 with l7-filter + ipp2 shapper rules The server is a supermicro p4sci + celeron pentium 4 base 3ghz + 512Mb + 2 ethernet e1000 One interface is connected to a cisco catalyst switch The other interface is connected directly to a CMTS (a sort of router for cable modem) configured as bridge too. More than 20Mbps of bandwith

[Bug 1477] error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(836)
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1477 ------- Additional Comments From john@sort.net 2004-09-06 10:36 ------- I don't know what the current status of this bug is, but I'm experiencing similar behaviour trying to "emerge sync" with Gentoo's portage. I've seen it on two different machines and only at home .. which may be important because at home I have a

rsync (or rsync-like tool) provides local metadata cache ?
Let's say I have a slow, or high latency (or both) link between two hosts, and transferring data is expensive. Is it possible with rsync (or any other tool like rsync) to maintain a local metadata cache, such that I can rsync without transferring data to and from the hosts about what files are already in place ? That is, I already "know" what is out there and don't need to

Low-bitrate audio encode/stream application
Hello Thomas, You are correct - the application is basically for secure remote access to ham CW (morse code) station. I believe the solution will be based on low bit rate MP3 streaming for receiver side (MP3 allows use with existing CODEC in client side, which could include Win CE or Linux palmtop type form factor, and the audio source would just be "voice grade" material on a mono,

FLAC subset
All, This mail is a survey to get some feedback about changes to the FLAC Subset (see http://flac.sourceforge.net/format.html#subset). FLAC hardware support is growing. The PhatBox was the first but now there's the Rio Receiver, and FLAC is being worked into the Audio ReQuest box, among others. Based on feedback from this development I am contemplating restricting the subset a little more.

IAX2 trunking: codec bandwidth comparison notes and results
2003-06-28 Bandwidth Study - John Todd (jtodd @loligo.com) Purpose: ------------- To obtain a better chart of actual bandwidth usage per codec as seen "on-the-wire" when using IAX2 trunking between two Asterisk telephony servers. Discussion: ------------- Past threads on the asterisk-dev and asterisk-users lists have indicated that the optimal way to save bandwidth on

HTB and HFSC,declaration tc command question
I have a lot question about tc-command because now i''m doing research to compare performance between HTB and  HFSC so i''m doubt a lot thing and your reply are so very helpful to me ... My question is In HTB tc command question 1. I''m use opensource (Mastershaper) for help to config traffic control but when i''m try to config HTB, I''m doubt about

Many sources into one stream
Hi: This is going to be difficult to do digitally. Firstly, there is latency. MP3 and Vorbis both have latency, and more is introduced by players buffering. At least in Linux, the latter can be minimised by tweaking buffer settings in programs like mpg123/321 and ogg123. Assuming you get the latency to where it is acceptable, you will also have to provide a way for each person to hear the other

Samba -> WinXP: slow transfers, partial solution
Hello All, I'm running Samba 3.0.24 as PDC and file server on Gentoo Linux, AMD64, 2.6.19 kernel, 100MBit/s network, and experience quite slow file transfers from Samba to WinXP SP2 clients: the speed is varying, but is about 1-2Mb/s at best. I spent quite some time investigating the issue, here are the intermediate results: 1) This happens only when transferring _from_ _Samba_ to

Ingress question with sub classes
Hi, I wanted to configure the following : 1. VPN + some other special connections (TCP 82,8282,23,22 and ICMP) to have priority over the rest 2. special upstream for our updating system on port 4000 3. within the VPN tunnels citrix traffic ( TCP 1494, 2598) + icmp has priority I need this for both incoming and outgoing traffic as it is the bandwith managment config on a central system from

Bandwidth measurement tool: bmtools
This is not specifically on-topic for Asterisk, but I have found on many occasions while working with Asterisk that it would have been very handy to be able to measure, with some precision, the bandwidth being used by a particular host, port, or combination of the two. So, I went searching for various tools, none of which were what I wanted. They either were too clever, or too limited in

sctp support for rsync?
Hi there I've just done some brief reading up on SCTP, and I get the impression it will allow multiple "threads" of streamed data as part of one connection? I was wondering what impact that would have on high bandwidth, high latency links? Currently our bottleneck in using rsync is due to that. We have fat pipes and yet a single rsync session cannot saturate it due to the latency.

multi-threaded rsync for a single gzip file
Hi, I'm transferring a huge gzip file approximately 6GB over the WAN. I was wondering if there is a way which I can initiate a multi-threaded(multi-connection) rsync for transferring one gzip file? Could someone kindly show me how it should be done? Thanks.

codec problems with asterisk
We appear to be having a problem with our asterisk setup. We have a cisco AS5300 with pri lines coming in and passing the calls onto asterisk then too the sip phones. the phone call from the sip phones (7960's) appears to be ok nice and clear including the user who has called in. but if your the user who has called in its all crackley sounds really bad when they speak. i believe this
