Fundamental rsync design question.
Hi folks,
Was looking at a commercial product which does something similar
to rsync.
It seems to optimise incremental change determination by logging the
changes that
have occured since the first full transfer happened, using techniques
common in snapshot techniques.
Is there any reason for rsync not using this approach ? Is it the
space constraints
imposed by a logging approach or

Preserving Permissions using server
Hi!:) - try using the sudo command as a prefix to all of that. I know
that if I didn't do that it would default to nobody.nobody when I copied.

AD and SAMBA
Hello all,
I am trying to understand how SAMBA finds nearest Domain Controller when
configured to use Active Directory for AuthN.
There are some great articles and wikis about how to configure SAMBA
against AD, but couldn't find much on what I was looking for.
For example
1. Does Samba have built in dc locator functionality like windows
clients ?
2. What is the default authN it uses, NTLM

RTLinux and EXT3 using 2.2.19 (need help badly)
Could anyone help me out, i've got a situation here. :-)
I already contacted RTLinux users with no success, I hope ext3 users can
help!
I have a 2.2.19 kernel patched with RTLinux 3.1, clean and working.
I found and applied the ext3 for 2.2.19 kernel patch.
Patch went fine (like in README).
I was able to tune2fs -j /dev/hda1 (activate the journal).
And it actually works.
1) I was not able

back to ext2
Hi,
for a RTlinux application I need to install a 2.4.0 kernel.
prevoisly, my kernel 2.4.10 was supporting the ext3 fs and
all my fs were under ext3.
as 2.4.0 doesn't support ext3 I've got a problem to boot
cause /proc is recognise as a ext3 fs and my kernel doesnt know
how to mount it.
what can I do and how to change back /proc to an ext2 fs

Using Dropbear for RTOS which is not POSIX complaint?
Hi,
We have a proprietary RTOS which is *not* POSIX complaint. We want to port
SSH server and SCP client onto our platform. How difficult it would be, to
port Dropbear into our platform? We would like to integrate our CLI with the
SSH.
Any recommendations on using Dropbear for our platform? Appreciate sharing
your experiences with Dropbear.

Diff to add ARMv6L to Target parser
Hi all,
Thank you so much for this discussion. It has been very helpful and educational. I think that I understand the perspectives of both Tim and Renato. Let me briefly summarize them to ensure that I correctly understand:
Renato’s perspective is that the triple means whatever the author says it does, and that may or not be meaningful. :) In the case of armv7l (for example) it has a clear

Session rekeying support in OpenSSH
Hi,
I am using OpenSSH_5.2p1. It seems ssh server doesn't support key
regeneration after a specified amount of time. I manually verified the
OpenSSH_5.2p1 and OpenSSH-6.2 source codes and haven?t found any code
support for session rekeying in both releases.
SSH2 supports session rekeying using the parameter ?RekeyIntervalSeconds?
with default value 3600 seconds (one hour) in both

Asterisknow with video and X-Lite not quite working
Hello everyone,
I have previously asked this question on the asterisk-video list, but I
got directed here.
I have a setup consisting of asterisknow beta4 (not sure if that is
crucial) and a few clients all running X-Lite 3.0 (not eyebeam) on the
local network. My computer has a USB-Camera installed, and now I would
like to do some video calling with it, at least, so that the other user

Help Needed
Hi Everybody,
I am new to Asterisk. Can anybody suggest me some link where I can find
architecture level detail of this system. My aim is to find out how easy it
is to port it on a new hardware (T1/E1 and POTS)?
Any input is highly appreciated.

LLVM on bare-metal
Hello!
Q1
Are there any resources or examples on embedding LLVM into an ARM-based
bare-metal application? Searching in this area only turns up
information on how to use LLVM to target bare-metal when I want to
compile LLVM for linking against a bare-metal application.
Q2
Are there any memory usage benchmarks for LLVM across the common tasks
(especially loading bytecode, doing the

Would you say that embedding the LLVM linker is a practical way to get
the required dynamic linking capabilities on the bare-metal side?

LLVM on bare-metal
Hi Tim.
Thank you for taking to time to comment on the background!
I will definitely study lldb and remote JIT for ideas. I worry that I
will not be able to pre-link on the host side because the host cannot(?)
know the final memory layout of code on the client side, especially when
there are multiple plugins being loaded in different combinations on the
host and client. Is that an
