Mac woes
I am new to R but have spent a little time messing around with it. I
am running version 2.8.1 under Leopard OS 10.5 on a power PC and also
on my laptop, which is Intel. Unless, I am wrong, this version is just
a bit buggy.
1. In the R Commander, there is no direct entry of data. The Edit menu
does not include a "New data set" choice, as advertised in the Windows
version.

Extremely poor rsync performance on very large files (near 100GB and larger)
I've been playing with rsync and very large files approaching and surpassing
100GB, and have found that rsync has excessively very poor performance on
these very large files, and the performance appears to degrade the larger
the file gets.
The problem only appears to happen when the file is being "updated", that
is, when it already exists on the receiving side.

File logging for use with rsync
Hi all,
Is it possible for ext3 to give a list of changed files over time?
Currently we use rsync to back up our server, but it takes > 24 hours to
backup the full file system.
Ideally I'd like to use the file system to give me a list of files that
have been created/updated and I'll back those up.
Is this possible?
Cheers

Flac woes
There are not bugs in flac, they are bugs in your Alesis HD24.
What you are asking for are features to be added to flac to fix the
bugs in your Alesis.
flac is the wrong place to be addressing errors in your Alesis hardware.
A better solution would be a stand-alone program which can patch the
errors in your WAV files, possibly asking for your choice in which
way to do so (there is more than

Rsync stops in the middle of a large transfer
Hello everyone. I am having trouble with rsync stopping in the middle of a
transfer. Everything works fine for smaller batches of file, but when I try
to rsync big groups, it just stops in the middle.
I have been using rsync to copy my home directory to an SD card. I recently
got a Drobo+Droboshare (NAS) and want to do the same thing to the Drobo, but
when I run rsync, it stops somewhere in

Rsync hangs on large files over stunnel
Greetings.
Here's my setup:
On the server -
rsync 2.5.6 protocol version 26
stunnel 4.04 on i686-suse-linux-gnu PTHREAD with OpenSSL 0.9.7b
On the client -
rsync version 2.6.6 protocol version 29
stunnel 4.14 on i686-suse-linux-gnu UCONTEXT+POLL+IPv4+LIBWRAP with OpenSSL 0.9.8a
Both ends run rsync as root
The rsync daemon listens on a non-default port that is only bound to 127.0.01.

rsync and chmoding permissions on Windows
I'm trying to use rsync to keep the permissions between two Windows servers.
A windows NT 4 server (with rsync daemon) and windows 2003 R2
I use Rsync in a batch file and I run it as Administrator by double
clicking on it.
Typically:
set cygwin=notnsec
rsync -rpDPo --chmod=Du+rwx,Fu+rwx,+X
and the files are crossed over but the permissions are screwed up.
Now, I can't find out the

Rsync connection times out on very large --files-from
I've been trying to rsync a very large list of files specified by
--files-from to an rsync daemon and couldn't really figure out why it wasn't
working, but I think I finally understand the error.
I unfortunately don't have the error to paste here for you all to see, since
it takes several hours to get it (and I'm working on a workaround to rsync
the files so I don't have

Problem with Rsync or Users will be Users?
I'm using CWRSync 2.6.9 protocol 29 on a Windows 2003 Standard R2 server.
I'm trying to copy files onto a local usb harddrive.
Both filesystems are NTFS.
Rsync is failing to copy some files due to the file name length.
I kind of assumed that Rsync could handle the same file name length that
Windows users are allowed to enter. :-)
Is there *anything* I can do with Rsync to allow these

RSYNC Hangs on large file counts and xinetd
Got a weird one, wondering if anyone has any ideas
Running an RSYNC 2.6.3pre1 server on Solaris 9 (Single USIII CPU, 1 GB
RAM, SAN Disk), client is 2.6.3pre1 on Solaris 8 (Dual USII CPUs, 2 GB
RAM, SAN Disk). In between the two is a Solaris 9 (Single USIIi CPU 1 GB
RAM, Local Disk) system using xinetd to forward traffic from the client
to the server on port 873.
The client is configured to push

rsync rewrites all blocks of large files although it uses delta transfer
With --backup in order to end up with 2 files it has to write out a
whole new file. Sure, it only sent the differences (normally that means
over the network but there is no network here) but the writing end was
told to duplicate the file being updated before updating it.

rjs woes, any hints?
I''ve pared my rjs experiment down to what seems a bare minimum. When I click
on my link_to_remote, the rjs executes, returns the correct javascript to
the browser, but it doesn''t update the div I''ve specified. What appears to
be coming back from the controller is:
Element.update("my_form", "hello, rjs");
I''m tearing my hair out.

Issue with rsync 2.6.2 on SCO OpenServer 5.x
Hi.
Strange error whilst trying to copy a large data-set across a LAN.
Invalid file index 522565453 (count=10365)
rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at sender.c(151)
This error occurs whenever I try to rsync this data structure.
Any ideas on what I could do to stop this? The exact same binary is
used on both machines.
Thanks.

Can Rsync do this?
I have to use a program on two desktop PCs seperated by several miles at different times of the day.
So I thought that maybe Rsync could help.
The program in question has a settings directory so I thought I could get Rsync to sync this directory between the two machines.
But Rsync seems to always force the files on the Rsync server to go to the slave regardless that the slave has the most upto
