rsync hanging?
Hi there,
I've been using rsync for a while to synchronize directories between my
windows XP laptop and a redhat linux workstation. However, starting
yesterday, rsync started hanging. From what I can tell, rsync completes the
transfer and then just hangs rather than exiting. Here are the details:
On the client machine (Windows XP):
rsync version: 2.5.5, protocol version 26

Hanging ssh session...
Hi All,
I am not sure if this is the same thing as the hang on exit bug, so sorry if
this is a duplication of previous stuff.
Essetntially I am experiencing ssh hangs with about .5% - 1% of my
connections. I am running 2.9p2, on Solaris 7. I actually have empirical
data on the hangings, as I wrote a script to create these connections
in an endless loop, setting an alarm so I could recover

timeout error in rsync-2.5.5
Dear all,
I've been trying to track down a problem with timeouts when pulling data from
an rsync daemon and I have now run out of any useful ideas.
The problem manifests itself when I try to transfer a large directory tree
on a slow client machine. What happens then is that the client rsync process
successfully receives the list of files from the server, then begins checking

-c Option
Hello all. I've been using rsync for quite some time and when I
originally began using it I was religious about including the -c option.
I've read the man page and noticed the significant performance hit I take
in using it. I was wondering if someone would be able to clarify for me
what the benefits are in using this option. Why would someone want to?
I can't quite remember why I

[Bug 953] openssh session hanging - prngd[671]: write() in socket_write() failed: Broken pipe
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=953
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2005-01-27 17:16 -------
I've tried to reproduce this with OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 on Solaris 2.5.1 (the only
system I have available that doesn't have /dev/random). It ran a variant of
your script on my system for over an hour without a single hang.
Some more questions:

Sieve vnd.dovecot.filter hanging issue
I am trying to add a signature to all messages and it should be possible via vnd.dovecot.filter, the problem is that any script I try to filter through just hangs.
I am running on FreeBSD 11.2 and I tried with dovecot 2.2.32 & pigeonhole 0.4.19 and with dovecot 2.3.2 && pigeonhole 0.5.2. In both cases, the output from dovecot is the same:

out of memory in build_hash_table
I recently installed rsync 2.5.5 on both my rsync server and client being
used. I installed the latest version because I was having problems with
rsync stalling with version 2.4.6 (I read that 2.5.5 was supposed to clear
this up or at least give more appropriate errors). I am still having
problems with rsync stalling even after upgrading to 2.5.5. It only stalls

Problems on ssh and Cygwin
Hi,
I was given you name by a colleague of mine as someone who may be able
to help me with ssh and Cygwin.
I've set up Cygwin and ssh - but every time I run ssh it asks me for my
password. I want to set this up so I can use keys for the user and host
pair to stop this happening, but have had no success.
The id_dsa.pub file generated by ssh-keygen actually starts with
"ssh-dss",

Rsync 2.5.5 hangs for no apparent reason
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this email.
I'm using rsync to make a copy of my Netbackup Catalogs
to an offsite server for DRP. I have narrowed the problem
down to a few sub-directories that contains 16 directories
each and in each directory there are about 37 files. None
of the files are larger than 300MB. In fact, most of them
are around 1K-5MB. The problem is, rsync

rsync 2.4.6 hanging on HPUX11 only over firewall.
We are running rsync 2.4.6 on HPUX-11and using it to push a document-root from a staging area to several servers running rsync in daemon mode.
The rsync client syncs successfully to modules on the same server and to most other machines, but hangs when trying to syncronise across a firewall (from SECURE zone to DMZ)
(The firewall port IS OPEN!!)

Weird hanging problem with rsync
Hi!
I have a weird problem I can't quite grasp. I rsync machines directories to
a central machine and backup from there to tape. So far so fine. But I have
weird hangings with rsync doing nothing whatsoever on some files. If this
situation arises, rsync won't go on with processing, won't actually work on
something (CPU is quite low in those situations) and will only send packages
over
