rsync not prompting for username, only password
Hi guys, can anyone suggest why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not
prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a
password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a
corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a
password.

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and
username with rsync.
I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a
corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange
thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf
(unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as

Secure connection to testor refused !
Here is a newbie question. Hope, you will not mind.
I am trying to backup a file from my NT machine onto AIX machine. Here
is the setup:
NT machine (testor): rsync is in c:\Rsync\rsync.exe and is running as a
daemon. (I created a service for Rsync first).

Connection Timeout
This is my first post so first of all I will say hello to everyone.
I have rsync configured and working properly on my local network however
when I try to connect from a remote host (one located in a different state)
the connection times out. I was wondering if there was another way to set
the timeout besides in the rsyncd.conf file?
As I said the connection works fine on the internal lan, but

Rsyncing huge file, timeout on rsyncd
Hello,
let me describe my setup.
Source server is debian wheezy, rsync 3.0.9
Destination is qnap TS-410, with rsyncd enabled, rsync 3.0.7
I'm trying to rsync two files, which are exported from source server as iscsi
targets (windows iscsi backups). Files are on btrfs, so I use snapshots during
rsync, so files don't change.
One file is 50GB, second is 550GB in size.

secrets file
I am planning on rsyncing between 3 different computers that all have the
same username, but different passwords. Is there a way to specify which
user from which host belongs to which password? Or do I have to use
different users between the 3 boxes?
Thanks for the help,

transfer interrupted (code 3) at flist.c(812)
Ok, I just setup the log file and this is what I see there:
rsync on cdrive/Temp/pix.log from admx (141.214.137.139)
transfer interrupted (code 3) at flist.c(812)
I had to change [cdrive] from path = "c:\" to path = c: to get rid of
'@ERROR: chdir failed' error.
I am getting close but still need some help. Thanks in advance.

I'm running FreeBSD 4.6.2 on two different machines. Both machines have
rync installed by way of the ports library, but one of them is running
it as a server. I followed the directions in the man pages for running
the server using inetd.
Here is what happens:

Trouble getting rsync to work....
I have read the MAN page and the Rsync page and have set up an
/etc/rsync.conf but I can't seem to get it working. I have tried starting the
daemon and adding the correct entry on the server hosts.allow file, but I
just get "Connection refused" from the server.
Surely this can't be that difficult, but I am at a bit of a loss. Can anyone
help?

Bug in rsyncd 2.5.0 while handling config file string values
I compiled and tried rsync 2.5.0 but could not get the server
running. loadparm.c:string_set() now calls free() which it did not do
in 2.4.6 and this free() tries to free memory that was not allocated
with malloc.
Here is a gdb run (done after adding return before fork() in
become_daemon) which shows where it crashes and what my minimal config
file for demonstrating the bug was. The config file
