Identifying firmware version of SATA controller (LSI)
Trying to track down why our two Intel X-25E''s are spewing out Write/Retryable errors when being used as a ZIL (mirrored). The system is running a LSI1068E controller with LSISASx36 expander (box built by Silicon Mechanics). The drives are fairly new, and it seems odd that both of the pair would start showing errors at the same time.... I''m trying to figure out where I can

Could not retrieve local facts: private method `split' called for nil:NilClass
Hello, I am installing Puppet Enterprise agent (puppet-enterprise-1.2.1- solaris-10-sparc) on a Solaris 10 64bit SPARC system. When I view the logs for the agent I see: puppet-agent[14680]: [ID 702911 daemon.error] Could not run Puppet configuration client: Could not retrieve local facts: private method `split'' called for nil:NilClass The client successfully initiates a cert exchange

mpt_sas multipath problem?
Greetings, We''re trying out a new JBOD here. Multipath (mpxio) is not working, and we could use some feedback and/or troubleshooting advice. The OS is oi151a7, running on an existing server with a 54TB pool of internal drives. I believe the server hardware is not relevant to the JBOD issue, although the internal drives do appear to the OS with multipath device names (despite the fact

Puppet + Mongrel on RHEL5
I am trying to setup Puppet + Mongrel on RHEL5. So far I have followed this document: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Using_Mongrel_On_Enterprise_Linux The puppetmasters all start up and Apache starts up on 8140. However, when my client connects I get the following errors: [root@lv1764p puppet]# puppetd --server puppetdev.encana.com --no- daemonize -o -v info: Retrieving

dtrace-discuss: cannot get a ''string'' to print...
hi, I''m using the PID provider to trace a 32-bit app, prtdiag. I''m trying to print the value of "propname" (arg1) in the following func: int picl_get_propval_by_name(picl_nodehdl_t nodeh, const char *propname, void *valbuf, size_t nbytes) ... i''ve tried many versions, but this is a representative one: 53 this string propname; 54 55

ZFS Hardware Check, OS X Compatibility, NEWBIE!!
This is my first post here, and i hope it is ok that i posted in this thread. I have been doing a bit of reading on the solaris platforms, and seem to be inclined to try out the open solaris os or solaris 10. My only worry is that my lack of knowledge with the command line may make this difficult regarding trouble shooting. It seems fairly straighforward creating zpools etc, but maybe nexenta is

Can rsync update files in place?
I've just subscribed, but a search of the archive doesn't indicate this has been handled before... Is there a way to get rsync to not create a new file while transferring and then rename it, but to instead update the existing file in place, i.e. simply write those blocks that have been updated and leave the rest alone? That would be ideal for what I wanted rsync for, namely updating

Any rhyme or reason to disk dev names?
Hello, I am curious to know if there is an easy way to guess or identify the device names of disks. Previously the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 system made sense to me... I had a SATA controller card with 8 ports, and they showed up with the numbers 1-8 in the "t" position of the device name. But I just built a new system with two LSI SAS HBAs in it, and my device names are along the lines of:

IPv4 configuration for Solaris guest domains
I''d like to enhance Solaris network configuration slightly to allow guest domain IPv4 details to be passed from the domain building control tools through to the relevant components in Solaris (svc:/network/physical and uts/common/fs/nfs/nfs_dlinet.c). Attached is a proposal, roughly in the form of a fasttrack. Diffs for a prototype are at:

Does any rsync-based diff, rmdup, cvs software exist?
I'd like to be able to run GNU-diff type comparisons, but use R-sync technology to make it efficient to see what's different without transmitting all that data. Another thing I like to do using rsync protocol, is what I call rmdup -- remove duplicates. This would allow me to recursively (like diff -r) compare files in two (!!MUST BE!!) different directories and remove one (or the other)

CyberPower on OpenIndiana
Hello, I have a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD and I'm trying to get nut to see it under OpenIndiana. All search online suggested that it basically can't happen, but I decided to ask again, maybe things have changed since then. The UPS can be seen by the system: # /usr/sbin/cfgadm -lv usb9/1.1 Ap_Id Receptacle Occupant Condition Information When Type

Xen HVM images on VMware ESX
Hi everyone, I''m trying to convert some Xen HVM images to run on VMware ESX, unsuccessfully thus far. I believe the problem is that ESX by default wants the VMs to use SCSI virtual disks, but my HVM VMs are configured to use IDE virtual disks. If you have any experience with this sort of thing, please get in touch. Thanks! Diwaker -- http://floatingsun.net/
