zpool destroy causes panic
I'm trying to destroy a zfs array which I recently created. It contains
nothing of value.
# zpool status
pool: storage
state: ONLINE
status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is
missing or
invalid. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue
functioning in a degraded state.
action: Replace the device using 'zpool replace'.

Using Windows ACL on a samba3 share
Hello folks,
I have some directories within a samba 3.x share which I want to give granulated security settings for various users and groups. I could use of course "setfacl" and POSIX ACLs to accomplish that, but some of these ACL should be also able to be set by some users. These users of course has no access to my linux host where samba3 is running, so they only can do that by

Failure at "request for second install disk"
I've been trying to install a CAD program called MicroStation that can
install to either Win95, NT or DOS. I had recently established a config
file that allowed Half-Life to run on my machine, so I thought this
program could run with the same config. Nevertheless, with or without
the config file the first disk happily copies all its files to its
destination. At the point were I expect

Partial deadlock in 4.9p1
I've just had a 4.9p1 system partially deadlock for about 30 minutes
and then spontaneously(?) recover. The "ps" results point at vinum.
I've never seen this before and don't recall anything like this being
mentioned here before.
At the time, I had two find's running in a large NFS mounted
filesystem and was doing a "cvs -d /usr/ncvs -R checkout -P ports"

out of HDD space - zfs degraded
Overnight I was running a zfs send | zfs receive (both within the same
system / zpool). The system ran out of space, a drive went off line,

Centos 4.0 updates repo & local repository creation
Hello all
I used Centos 4.0 iso to setup my systems and updated till date. I
assume they are equivalent to systems created with Centos 4.4
Now, I am planning to setup a full local repository of Centos updates,
extras, centosplus etc. (not isos...as I intend to download isos only
when Centos 5 becomes available.
Please advise what directories I should download for my local
repository, as the

RAID10
Hi All,
I am looking at ZFS and I get that they call it RAIDZ which is similar to RAID 5, but what about RAID 10? Isn''t a RAID 10 setup better for data protection?
So if I have 8 x 1.5tb drives, wouldn''t I:
- mirror drive 1 and 5
- mirror drive 2 and 6
- mirror drive 3 and 7
- mirror drive 4 and 8
Then stripe 1,2,3,4
Then stripe 5,6,7,8
How does one do this with ZFS?

[Asterisk-Dev] CVS HEAD behavior change warning
The patches from Mantis issue #752 (extended screening/privacy support
for Dial) have been merged into CVS HEAD. As part of this patch, the 'n'
flag to Dial got changed to be used as part of the privacy features,
instead of being the 'dont jump to +101' flag. That flag is now 'j'.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but sometimes things have to change in the

Linux smb client on a Windows 2000 LAN network
I recently set up a home network (workgroup Cunard) consisting of a LINUX
machine (Berengaria) and a Windows XP Professional machine (Alaunia)
joined by a Linksys router.
I did NOT activate the Samba server on the Linux machine, although
Samba software is installed. Also, I did not take any steps to configure
the Windows XP Professional machine, and I was quite surprised to
find the following
