rsync 2.5.1 server - strange logs
I've just upgraded my rsync server to 2.5.1 (before, I was using 2.4.6), without changing anything in /etc/rsyncd.conf, and now, I have this logs each time a client connect to server: 2002/01/07 18:33:03 [10432] rsync: reverse name lookup mismatch on fd3 - spoofed address? 2002/01/07 18:33:03 [10432] rsync on admin/sbin/padmin_update.sh from UNKNOWN (172.16.65.14) 2002/01/07 18:33:03 [10432]

rsynd-2.5.1 / hlink.c patches
Platform: Compaq OpenVMS Alpha 7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 The following patch resolves compile problems with the HLINK.C module. The cast on function argument for the qsort() routine was wrong, and not allowing the compile to complete. When the function definiton of the hlink_compare() is corrected to have the const qualifiers, the cast inside the qsort() function call is no longer

rsync-2.5.0 getaddrinfo in AIX4.3?
Anyone have problems with getaddrinfo under AIX4.3? I have built 2.5.0 under linux, HP and VPP without too much in the way of problems. However, AIX4.3 version builds OK but doesn't execute getaddrinfo correctly. Any ideas? getaddrinfo problem
Can anyone tell me what the work around fix was for the getaddrinfo host not found problem? It's something to do with the port number I believe. Question on "read only" behavior in smb.conf
Hi All, I've built Samba v2.2.8a on a RedHat 7.2 system and it seems to work ok. However I cannot understand the "read only" parameter in the following situation: smb.conf file: ------------------- [global] security=user encrypt passwords=yes [foo] path=/tmp/foo read only=yes The owner&mode of /tmp/foo is: ------------------------------------------ % ls -ld

A checksum question
I'd like to know a little about the internals of RSYNC. I am a little confused as to why RSYNC is using both the simple 32 bit algorithm and the MD4 checksum function on the same files. From my testing this causes a vast overhead that is clearly not represented by RCP (fairly obvious!). Removing checksumming from a secure whole-file LAN transfer brings RSYNC in line with the general

dovecot-auth failed: Not enough space
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear all, I've been trying to get a Dovecot IMAP service running under HP-UX 11.23, IA64. The system has 6GB of spare space under /var and at least the same amount of RAM free at the current time. I've compiled from the latest source (1.2.4), using the following options: # CC="/opt/aCC/bin/aCC" ./configure --prefix=/opt/dovecot

isc-dhcp dynamic update problem
Hi, I have a buster system configured as a DC running 4.11.13 from Louis's repo. I am trying to get https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 working. Mostly it seems to work but there seems to be a problem with what dhcpd writes into the leases file in the "on release" stanza. When dhcpd writes the On Release stanza I get something like the

Unusual IMAP config.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, perhaps a silly question, perhaps an unusual one, I don't know. I'm trying to suss out how to set up Dovecot in such a way as to have two separate IMAP services running on the same system. To explain. We have an "internally-facing" IMAP and an "externally-facing" one. It's policy that anyone connecting to IMAP

plot slow?
Hi, I just installed R and am comparing it to other packages (such as Igor). So, you'll have to excuse me if this is a stupid question. I run the simple command: plot(1:1000000) And it seems SO slow! Igor blasts through this. My theory is that R is redrawing the screen for every point that's being graphed. Is it possible to control how often R redraws a plot as its building it -

[PATCHv6 0/3] virtio_console: Add rproc_serial device
From: Sjur Br?ndeland <sjur.brandeland at stericsson.com> I thought rebasing rproc_serial to linux-next was going to be trivial. But when starting the merge I realized that I had to refactor the the patches from Masami Hiramatsu. The splice support has the same issue as I faced, with different type of buffers in the out_vq. So I ended up refactoring the splice functionality. The code size
