Question about --stats
Is there a way to get rsync to estimate the net change of disk space usage for a transfer? I can get the gross amount of files to be transferred using "--stats", and if I use "-v" I can see a list of files to be deleted. But then I'd have to mangle the filenames to the target path (prepend some text to each line) and do a "du -c | tail -1" to get the disk usage

"when used with -r (which is implied by -a), every subcomponent of every path is visited from top down, so include/exclude patterns get applied recursively to each subcomponent." "...base of the tree." I guess I didn't make the connection from these phrases that the base of the tree is not the beginning of a path

rsync -auIn not doing what I expect (rsync 2.6.3)
Hi, Some of my files recently became corrupted due to disk I/O errors (bad SCSI terminator). I've fixed my I/O errors, run fsck, and am now wanting to restore from my rsync backup. However, some time has passed, and users have continued working, creating new files, in some cases with the same filename as existed before the disk I/O problems started. E.g. editing a .c file to fix a bug.

been shared out read-only for the purposes of a script which runs on the Linux box that copies files for backup. On one ME box, I can access the C:\WINDOWS directory without difficulty from Linux, however, on the second ME box, the C:\WINDOWS directory does not show up as a directory and has a zero byte size when using 'smbmount' and 'ls' as follows: [root@vault /root]# smbmount

Win95 share going in and out of df under smbfs?
Is this a known problem? I've seen this problem both under 2.0.6 and 2.0.7, on my Debian Linux system (kernel 2.2.14): A Win95 share that I mounted under smbfs will show up as mounted in df, and even contain the correct Used/Available info. If I do an 'ls' on the mountpoint, I see no files. If I 'umount' the share, I get the 'not mounted' error, but then no longer

Bug report: smbmount 2.0.6 and NT pagefile.sys bug
Hi, I have just installed Samba 2.0.6 and noticed that the "pagefile.sys" smbmount bug still exists: When unsing smbmount to mount an NT4 volume, and doing an "ls" on the mounted directory, I get: # ls /mnt ls: pagefile.sys: Permission denied . IO.SYS SRVMGR.EXE ffastun.ffa summary.dat .. KBROWSER

Specific to cwRsync ...
If this isn't the correct list for cwRsync issues, I apologize and hope someone can point me in the right direction. Otherwise, keep reading . I noticed something odd today with one of our backups. I have an NT 2000 machine that pushes files to a 2003 Server machine and today someone brought to my attention that the backup seems to have well over 100GiB more than

Re: [Rocks-Discuss] Rocks or Virtual Cluster?
Thanks for the input. I wish I had a link to the article. It''s just not clear to me, yet, if they are saying that rocks can cluster up virtual servers such as xen or if rocks could be installed inside of multiple vm machines to create a redundant cluster. Either way, sounds interesting. I''ve played with GFS clusters using them for web services and have been using VMware but

Support for CACHEDIR.TAG excludes?
Hi there, there's an old proposal to exclude a directory and its subdirectories from being backed up and the like, by placing a file name CACHEDIR.TAG into it with a certain content, see [*] for details. rsync lacks support for that and I was wondering why. Unless there are strong reasons against it, I'd like to add it. After a quick glance into the sources it seems this should be

./configure excludes USB drivers and documentation
Sorry for such a noob question, but I'm having a problem with 2.7.4 ./configure . I down loaded the 2.7.4 tarball, unzipped. read the INSTALL and typed ./configure . The output of ./configure shows "build serial drivers: yes" and build everything else is "no". Looking at config.log, I see configure:8104: checking for libusb version via pkg-config configure:8111:

dear all Every yum command returns "nvidia excluding" lines, and those items are invisible for installation, see lower. I have no idea where those excludes are defined. Also, the flag "--disableexcludes=all" does not remove the excludes. any ideas? thanks mathy ------------------------------------------------------ [root at gbw-d-l0070 ~]# yum update Loaded plugins:
