OpenSSH compile problem on Solaris 8 & 9
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this... the OpenSSH Mailing Lists page is a little ambiguous. I've tried to compile OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 & 3.0.2p1 on two different Solaris platforms, one running Solaris 8 and the other Solaris 9 beta. It configures fine, but the make dies: gcc -I/opt/include -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I. -I/opt/include -I/opt/include

Building without perl
I can't seem to compile 3.5p1 on a Solaris 9 box with gcc and GNU make. The box does not have perl installed on it. When I run configure, it correctly detects the absence of perl on the system, but make dies immediately trying to run "fixpaths", which is a perl script. PERL is set to nothing in the Makefile. Is perl required? The docs don't say it is... if not, how do I get

RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan, I am running a Calling Card application on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7. Recording conversations I have seen on my server causes the processors to burn more than necessary so I would recommend what William from Signate recommended: " Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a separate server. It will be simpler to build a retrieval interface that does not

applaud.wav sounds worse in 1.0?
I've been running through a collection of hard to encode samples that the lame developers use, and others, doing ABX testing at various quality levels looking for my personal sweet spot. Last time I did this for RC3 I found that most samples where pretty transparent around the 3.5-4 region (my ears aren't that well trained, and I don't want them to be :-), but this time I noticed

APPLAUD.WAV problems
Hi! I am very pleased with the progress that Ogg is making, expecially after I read the latest comparision tests on http://ff123.net/128test/instruct.html that put OGG on top aside with MPC. BUT the APPLAUD.WAV test case ( http://lame.sourceforge.net/download/samples/applaud.wav ) still produces **VERY** easily audible high-frequency artifacts when encoded with OGG RC3 up to q4.9 (!!!). Cisco 7920 Image
Does anyone know if there is a Smartnet contract or whatnot available from Cisco for access to the latest 7920 images? I've got one w/ asterisk that is exhibiting a few of the documented bugs running 1.0.3 (1.0.7 is the latest IIRC). Thanks! -- /* Ian A. openssh 3.7.1p2 fault on solaris 9 for sparc when built as 64-bit
I built OpenSSH as a 64-bit binary on Solaris 9, using gcc 3.3.2, OpenSSL 0.9.7c and zlib 1.2.1. sshd starts up normally, and will begin the login session, however, some time after it reads /etc/default/login, it faults and kills the connection. There are no error messages logged to syslog (with LogLevel set to DEBUG) or with the -ddd option. Here's a truss of the failure: 8132:

FW: samba woes
All, I have been working on a component that is included with samba called SMBSH. The binary allows you to automount your NT shares by accessing your profile . I have been working on this for the last few days and have been unsuccesful at getting it work. Now I am not much of a programmer, but I did my best to try and troubleshoot this. However it just does not want to work in Linux. I

NET RPC calls fails
Hi Samba folks! I have a problem concerning RPC calls. In a domain environment running 3.0.3pre2 I have no problems shutting down remote computers. I now have a small environment with only 2 computers in a workgroup. My samba server is running on a FreeBSD 5.4 box and my client is a Win XP Pro SP2 box. When I try to use net rpc shutdown -I 192.168.1.50 -U Administrator i get the

Incremental transfer to remote broken in rsync 2.5.4
Hi, all. I note that incremental transfer (i.e. using the rsync algorithm) doesn't work when transferring to a remote machine. I get a speedup of 1.0. Transferring from a remote machine does achieve the speedup that the rsync algorithm yields. Even using the --no-whole-file switch doesn't help: % rsync -avP --no-whole-file file remotehost: building file list ... 1 files to consider file

vnc console from Mac
Hi, I''ve run into a problem, and no amount of Googling seems to help. I''m running Xen 3.4 and have the consoles of my DOMUs setup to be VNC. I can connect to them just fine from Chicken of the VNC etc etc. I cannot, however, connect using the built in vnc client using vnc://machine_name:59XX. I''m running os X 10.6.3 BTW Has anyone found a way around this? My end game

Printing NT to Linux w\Cannon bjc-4000
I am able to see my printer as a share. Well better put, I see four representations of my printer: ascii, lp2, lp-mono, and raw. I tried the naive thing and just selected lp2 and added the cannon bjc 4000 driver for NT. This didn't work. I get an error report: %%[ Error: undefined; offending Command: K ]%% . . . a bunch of strings that I don't understand. This does not look like the

RES: Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctype s
Hi Jim, I did what the doc says but the problem is the same. Does anybody saw this work ? I mean, is the Samba 3.0.2a+Kerberos MIT 1.3.3 able to be accessed by a WXP, W2K or W2K3 machine, using Kerberos tickets generated in a Windows 2003 KDC (W2K3 AD) ? PDF * powerpoint files need the x bit set under linux
We are trying to migrate to samba from NT4 data servers, We don't currently allow users the execute permission on data drives, so I have setup data drives with a creat mask of 0660 which seems ok. The problem I'm having it that both powerpoint and PDF files seem to need the 'x' bit set before users can edit or open the files. Has anybody else had this problem? and if so could you

ACLs on client Samba machines with Samba PDC.
I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended users/permissions that ACL support offers.) If I try, they just vanish when I click "OK".
