Very strange behaviour of the NAS
Recently I suddenly lose all permissions both for SMB and NFS4 on my Synology NAS.And similarly after poking some time in muddy waters, it suddenly works again. The NAS runs Samba 3.6.9. What I found, when the permissions were gone: 1. id user still working, didn't work last time so I assume a caching issue here 2. wbinfo -u same as above. This time still worked, last time only reported

progress of sound update -- REVISED

Today's secret to making it work: In System/Preferences/Startup applications, uncheck pulseaudio sudo apt-get install esound sudo nano /etc/pulse/client.conf autospawn = no Then every time your computer

FWD/SIP audio suddenly stopped working
All I've suddenly lost incoming audio on my FWD connection. It worked fine up until Wed when all of the sudden my calls would complete but I couldn't hear any audio (I could see the status of the call on the CLI and could see that my call was using bandwidth on the ethernet switch and router). I swear I didn't change any of the configuration or even restart *, but all the sudden

G729 Confusion
I've purchsed 5 g729 licenses from digium, but am a little confused about why things are acting the way they are. When I do show g729 I see: 0/0 encoders/decoders of 5 licensed channels are currently in use My sip.conf starts out: [general] disallow=all allow=ulaw allow=g726 then my hosts look like this: [6016716] username=6016716 accountcode=75415 type=friend secret=obsurified qualify=yes

rsync daemon and secrets file
I'm trying to understand how to properly setup the /etc/rsyncd.conf file to run an rsync daemon with a secrets file specified in a module - the rsync.conf manpage does not spell it out clearly enough. Rsync server is rsync-2.5.6. If this is my /etc/rsyncd.conf file: ------------------------------------ log file = /var/log/rsync uid = root gid = root [test] uid = rsync1 gid =

Predictive call - agent talking to a customer, then suddenly talking to another customer
Hi, do you have NAT between Asterisk and agent phones? S pozdravem Tomáš Holý Hi Tomas Thanks for replying. Yes, the phones are in one location in a LAN and are then NATed to enable them to contact the Asterisk which is hosted in the cloud. A typical sip.conf phone configuration on the remote server for the site is [general] session-timers=refuse disallow=all allow=g729:20 allow=ulaw

IAX2 authentication confusion
We spent some time yesterday trying to understand how IAX2 authentication works, and now I'm confused... Let's say that the receiving end has this entry in their iax.conf file: [remote-site] type=user secret=foo auth=md5 context=incoming host=dynamic The way I see it, there are two ways to initiate an outbound IAX2 connection to this system: 1) Use Dial, as in:

smbd interoperability with sssd on Kerberos no winbind
> apt remove sssd > apt install winbind I need to disable enumerate AD user and group. With tens of thousands of objects in the AD, this makes login very slow. Another internal team already set up sssd on their OS for years. Me suddenly going to winbind would result in different uid and gid without some hacky idmap. > The smbd daemon cannot talk directly to AD, it requires winbind

[PATCH] launch: libvirt: Implement drive secrets (RHBZ#1159016).
Implement the GUESTFS_ADD_DRIVE_OPTS_SECRET argument of guestfs_add_drive_opts. For libvirt we have to save the secret in libvirtd first, get a UUID, and then pass the UUID back through the domain XML. --- src/launch-libvirt.c | 227 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- 1 file changed, 224 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/launch-libvirt.c b/src/launch-libvirt.c

wbinfo -t -u -g not working
Hi, I have been using a Samba 3.021c server for up to three (3) months now and suddenly, for some strange reason, I can't issue the wbinfo -u or -g commands without getting the error: Error looking up domain users / groups. When I issue the wbinfo -t command I get: checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed error code was (0x0) Could not check secret Thanks God, my

Sudenly unable to get incoming from
Look at the thread Optimum online-upload throttling confirmed. It seems like throttling is done by all Cable companies and that might affect the VoIP performance, specially for uploading. Try when the activity in the cable line is low (i.e. late) and see if it gets better, or try sending all the data through your DSL line. Carlos > > Message: 26 > Date: Fri, 19 Aug 2005 15:58:59 -0400

Users with changed passwords can't log on remotely (but can locally)
(I submitted this last week, but hopefully someone who knows the intricacies of secrets.tdb and machine migrations will read this ...) I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server to a new one, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts. At first, no clients were aware that anything had changed. But when I changed the passwords of two users they suddenly

Problem with Samba-3.0.25rc3 & idmap_ldap (winbind dumps core)
In an effort to improve my lot, I'm trying to move to a ldap backend for idmap synchronization when I deploy the new 3.0.25 version on my systems. In preparation for this, I've set up some test systems -- where I'm having some problems that I think others may be encountering (according to a few comments I've seen recently). In a nutshell, I believe I have set up my ldap
