suggestion: add mp3 support to ices2
It says here there hasn't been much interest in handling mp3 with ices2:
http://www.icecast.org/files/ices_docs/faq.html
I just wanted to mention that I'm interested in doing so. I use ices
for a web-based jukebox project called Tunez. I have tried the other
suggested icecast streamers and have had major problems with both of
them (muse and liveice). It would be really cool if the

reducing I/O and system load
This is probably the most eternal question concerning rsync, but I'm
really in doubt since I can't find the appropriate answer or solution
anywhere for many months.
I'm using rsync for simple daily back up data from one HD to another. It
takes about 10 minutes daily under "nice -n 19". The problem is
well-known as I see - several other services such as

ACL Question [Repost]
OK so I've got samba-3.0.11 compiled with ACL support. I've running
2.4.25 with the ACL/ATTR patch applied. I can read and set ACLS's using
the getfacl/setfacl programs. ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows it's linked to
libattr.so.1 and libacl.so.1. I can read ACL with the smbcacls program,
but when I try to set them I get:

multi-class classification using rpart
Hi,
I am trying to make a multi-class classification tree by using rpart.
I used MASS package'd data: fgl to test and it works well.
However, when I used my small-sampled data as below, the program seems
to take forever. I am not sure if it is due to slowness or there is
something wrong with my codes or data manipulation.
Please be advised !
The data is described as the output from str()

OpenVPN, proxy ARP for an entire subnet (Linux endpoints)
"A Tale of TTL Troubles"
I was hired to implement VPN for a subnet. The owner has a /27 at his
home site, and he wanted to have the machines there answering BOTH on
those IP addresses and some addresses at a remote colocation provider.
Make sense? Not to me either. :( I think he''s trying to fool his
customers into thinking he has a physical presence in the colocation
city.

Samba trusted domains and access control lists problem (cannot delete or rename)
Hi,
I am having difficuly deleting and renaming files with users from a
foreign domain using acls.
My setup is as follows :
I have two Samba (3.0.14a)/LDAP domains connected via a VPN (OpenVPN)

I/O errors when backing up from ext3 to UDF
Hi. I'm trying to back up from an ext3 filesystem to an IOMega Rev USB
cartridge drive, which uses a UDF filesystem. It appears to the system
as /dev/scd0, but can be mounted in R/W mode.
I get a bunch of errors like this:
rsync: mkstemp
"/media/usb/backup_dir/home/support/data-old/clipart/STANDARD/STDDIR3/.PE01617_.WMF.M9ACqm"
failed: Input/output error (5)

extracting columns
Hi,
Can anybody show me how to extract all columns in my dataset that are
polymorphic? Or phrased in another way I would like to delete all
columns that have no more than one letter in it (that are monomorphic).
Thank you.

4 Port FXO interface
I am looking to build a small PBX for an office that has 3 incoming analog
lines and less than 10 extensions.
For the Asterisk server I am going to use a small form factor PC with no-PCI
slots so the FXO interface needs to be either FXO->SIP or USB. Can anyone
make suggestions?
I am looking at an AudioCodes MP114 FXO or possibly two Sangoma U100's but

Problem backing up read-only files
I have a PC on which I run Windows XP and Cygwin 1.5. To this is
attached an HP Media Vault mv2120 via Ethernet through a switch.
I can copy files back and forth between the XP machine and the
Media Vault, so that much seems to work fine.
I would like to use rsync to back up some of the files on the XP
machine to the Media Vault. This seems to work as it should as long
as the files have write

strange default share ACLS's, where do they come from?
Hi everyone,
I have a Samba 4.2.3 PDC server with some shares on it. If I create a new
share, it immediately has some strange ACL's. Could anyone tell me where
these come from?
Example:
root at corrumpeer:/# cat <<EOF>>/etc/samba/smb.conf
[test3]
path = /tmp/test3
EOF
root at corrumpeer:/# mkdir /tmp/test3
root at corrumpeer:/# chown root:users /tmp/test3

samba with acl's, acl's in but not working
I have installed Redhat 8.0 with the Sgi xfs rpm kernel running. I also
recompiled the srpm from Redhat's ftp site with acl support. I have a
partition called data that was formatted in xfs. I can do a getfacl and
it works on the directories and seems to be working. I am trying to
change the permission's from a windows machine logged in as root but
nothing seems to work. When I

Speex newbie questions
Hi everyone,
I have got some questions about Speex, I am sorry if my questions are too
newbie:
1. For the LP analysis, did Speex use the AR (Autoregressive) model or the
ARMA model?
2. Am I right to say that Speex use a multistage VQ (since I believe Speex
employs two or more VQ consecutively - based on the manual it says that
Speex uses dynamically selectable codebooks (linear

any news about rsync and acl's?
If we do rsync with an nfsv4-style transport, then ACLs will be transported
as attributes of a file, abstracted into a POSIX/NT common format. For
them to be transported successfully, both machines would have to
support ACLs either in the kenrel or through some kind of vfs
that stores them in a database. Also, ACLs are defined in terms
of usernames so they'll have to have a common username
