libvirt-lxc
Hi,
I noticed that libvirt-lxc will be deprecated for RedHat:
"Future development on the Linux containers framework is now based on
the docker command-line interface. libvirt-lxc tooling may be removed in
a future release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (including Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 7) and should not be relied upon for developing custom
container management applications." -

[libvirt] [LXC] Tyring to locate livbvirt operations for LXC relocation
Hello,
I am searching for the libvirt operations for relocating LXC (system or
application) containers. LXC relocation mechanism is done by checkpoint /
restart. I went over libvirt API documentation and found the following
methods:
virDomainSave that receives a domain and path to state file. The method
saves domain's memory contents into a disk file.
virDomainRestore that receives a domain

Unable to start LXC on Gentoo w/ libvirt 1.0.4 or 1.0.5. 1.0.3 works
Hello.
I use libvirtd on my Gentoo development system to manage both QEMU and
LXC. When 1.0.3 came out, I updated to it from 1.0.3-r2, but 1.0.4 failed
to start my LXC containers. I did not research the issue at the time, so I
revert to 1.0.3-r2. Today I updated to 1.0.5 and my LXC containers still
fail to start. I have not changed my domain XML at all.
I am looking for suggestions on

LXC libvirt support
Hi,
Has anyone used libvirt to start/stop/manage LXC (linux containers) ?
Is it supported at all? Last I tried, had few issues and the reply was

Note that libvirt lxc driver is a different implementation from lxc tools
and doesn't use lxc tools internally. You may not be able to do what
you are doing with lxc tools. Especially, the driver doesn't take aware

libvirt-1.2.2-r1 (Gentoo) fails to start LXC containers
I recently upgraded "libvirt" on Gentoo to 1.2.2-r1 (latest available). I
have not used LXC containers for a few weeks, so I don't recall what
version of libvirt I was using when my container last booted successfully.
Unfortunately, Gentoo's portage tree does not offer any previous versions
of libvirt that I could downgrade to.
TL;DR: My container is configured to use

Libvirt-lxc and systemd question
Warning - I'm fairly new to libvirt, lxc and systemd so there is a good
chance I'm doing something terribly wrong here. However, instead of
continuing to struggle, I figured I would mail the list for some
advice. What I'm trying to accomplish is a libvirt-lxc, systemd-based
container running on my system (Fedora 19). I've read that sharing the
underlying OS filesystem with

remote lxc via libvirt?
Has support for creating or using lxc containers on remote machines
been added to libvirt yet?
https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/lxc.html says
"Libvirt is a powerful hypervisor management solution with which you
can administer Qemu, Xen and LXC virtual machines, both locally and
remote."
so I assume it's been done and I'm just having trouble seeing it...

libvirt 5.0.0 - LXC container still in "virsh list" output after shutdown
Hello.
Centos 7.6 with libvirt build from base "virt" repository:
libvirt-daemon-driver-lxc-5.0.0-1.el7.x86_64
libvirt-client-5.0.0-1.el7.x86_64
libvirt-daemon-5.0.0-1.el7.x86_64
libvirt-daemon-driver-network-5.0.0-1.el7.x86_64
libvirt-libs-5.0.0-1.el7.x86_64
+
systemd-219-62.el7_6.2.x86_64
Now lxc containers with type='direct' can be started, but can't be stopped :)

creating a lxc image to be used with libvirt-lxc
Dear all,
I'm moving my first baby steps with libvirt-lxc trying to convert over from
an LXD installation and one of the hurdles is putting together an image.
All the examples I found about libvirt-lxc refer to running /bin/sh in a
container, almost as if it was docker, as opposed to run a "full system"
like I've been doing with lxd. Also virt-install, often referred in libvirt

Cannot connect to the existing LXC containers (console)
Hi,
after 2 years of "pure" LXC usage, I'm trying now to administrate our
LXC containers with libvirt No problem with a LXC container I create
"from Scratch" (lxc-create), but with our existing containers, I've a
strange behavior with the console:

[LXC][Openstack] Clarifications needed on usage of libvirt-lxc for openstack
Hi everyone,
I've some doubts regarding the usage/working of libvirt-lxc with openstack.
I'm doing a project titled "Low density virtualization for Storage cloud"
1. Can i use libvirt for lxc with Openstack swift alone (excluding nova,
glance and keystone)? If no what other openstack components should i use
for virtualization? (Is it necessary to install openstack nova to do

libvirt-lxc: good for production?
Dear all,
I'm a happy lxc (lxd) user with a need to add a bunch of KVM images to the
mix. More importantly I need to have some simple frontend to give users the
ability to quickly run some VMs for testing.
Researching the topic brought me to virt-manager and from there libvirt.
I've had however a hard time to answer a few questions that I hope this
list can help me with:
1) is the

Getting IP address of a lxc container via libvirt
Hello
I wanted to understand if there is a way to get LXC container's ip address.
- virDomainInterfaceAddresses API only works for qemu/kvm and not with the
lxc driver.
What other options do I have?
Using enter-lxc-namespace is throwing this error:
virsh -c lxc:/// lxc-enter-namespace <domain> --noseclabel /sbin/ifconfig

LXC + USB passthrough = Operation not permitted
Hi!
First post, kind of a noobie. I've been working with LXC and libvirt for a
few months now. Trying to do some interesting things with containers and
Android devices :D
I'm running ubuntu 13.10 with LXC 1.0.1 and tried both libvirt 1.1.1 and
1.2.2 (backported from ubuntu-trusty), but with either version of libvirt
am getting issues as soon as I try to get access to USB devices inside

Bridged nodes sharing local IP to be used as gateway for LXC
Hello everyone,
I am running multiple nodes each having multiple LXC containers. On
those nodes I am using Tinc to share the subnet 10.20.0.0. The LXC
containers may migrate between nodes and should keep the same
configuration.
On all nodes traffic from the external interfaces (connected to the
internet) is forwarded to the bridge interfaces and masqueraded. The
LXC containers are using 10.20.0.1
