Point of intersection
Hi,
Let say I have a normal density X~n(0,1) and I have a line y=0.01x+0.07. the
following code generate the plots.
x=seq(-10,10,length=100)
plot(x,p1,type='n',ylab="Density",main="Overlap Measure",xaxt="n",yaxt="n")
pi=dnorm(x,0,1)
points(x,p1,type='l')
abline(0.07,0.01)
you can see that the curves intersects at 3 points. My question is

How to find points of intersection between harmonic function and a line
Hi,
Sorry for the very short explanation about the problem of intersection.
I have a wave function monitored from the heart beat in a particular interval of
times.?Apart?fom that, there is?a line with positive slope (e.g: y = x+2) which
lies across the wave and intersect on a number of points. My problem is i have
no exact equation for?such a?complex harmonic wave produced by the heart

intersection of two matrices(updated)
Hi,
I have two matrices as follow:
matrix A =
a=matrix(c(c("abc","abc","bcd","bcd","bce","bce"),c("a1","d2","d1","d2","a1","a2")),6,2)
and matrix B which contains pair of values :
b=matrix(c(c("a1","a1"),c("a2","d2")),2,2)

Intersection an Sum between list and matrix
Hello,
I need to do an intersection between the list elements (partitionslist) and
the columns and rows of a matrix (mm), so that the result will be the sums
of the rows and columns.
Thanks a lot,
Romildo Martins
Example
1.The Intersection and sum betweeen partitionslist[[1]][[2]] and mm is
indicated in bold.
2.The Intersection and sum betweeen partitionslist[[1]][[2]] and mm is

[LLVMdev] Register class intersection
When the coalescer is run with -join-cross-class-copies it needs to
determine the register class of the joined virtual registers. The new
register class must be compatible with both old register classes.
The current implementation chooses the register class with the larger
spill size, or the less populous class. This works with the current
targets, but it can produce illegal machine code

Intersection of two chromosomal ranges
Hi,
I want to merge multiple chromosomal regions based on their common
intersecting regions. I tried couple of things using while and if loops but
did not work out.
I would appreciate if anyone could provide me a small piece of code in R to
get the intersection of following example:
chr1: 100-150
chr1: 79-250
chr1: 100-175
chr1: 300-350
I want the intersection of all four regions as follow:

intersection of 2 density curves
Hi,
I would like to find out the coordinates of the intersection points of 2 density curves. I did a search but i didn't get any significant results. I really hope some of you have some ideas. here it is an example:
set.seed(123)
x1 <- rnorm(100, 1, 1)
x2 <- rnorm(100, 0, 1)
d1 <- density(x1)
d2 <- density(x2)
plot(d1, col = 2)
lines(d2, col = 4)
Now i would like to know

about "intersection set" and "union set"
Hello sir:
group1:1,2,3,4
group2:1,3,4,5
group3:2,4,8,9
.. ...
group1000:9,3,8,2
I wanna get the "intersection set" and "union set". I've tried command "setdiff"and "union",but only two groups is permited. How can I deal with multi groups to find the "intersection set" and "union set"?
Thanks a lot!

How to get intersection of multiple vectors?
v1<-c("a","b","c","d")
v2<-c("a","b","e")
v3<-c("a","f","g")
I want to get the intersection of v1,v2,v3,ie "a"
How can I do then?
What I know is only for 2 vectors via "intersect" function, but don't know how to deal with multiple vectors.
Many thanks

Lattice: how to have multiple wireframe nice intersection?
Hello,
This code builds a simple example of 2 wireframes :
require(lattice)
x <- c(1:10)
y <- c(1:10)
g <- expand.grid(x = 1:10, y = 1:10, gr = 1:2)
g$z <- c(as.vector(outer(x,y,"*")), rep(50,100))
wireframe(z ~ x * y, data = g, groups = gr, scales = list(arrows =
FALSE))
However, the intersection between the wireframes is not properly
drawn. Is there a way to fix this

Alignment of axes intersection
All,
Very basic question I can't seem to find the answer to:
plot(0:10, 0:10)
The axes intersection is not aligned at (0,0) in the lower left.
How does one force this?
I searched for graphical parameters under par(graphics) but can't seem to
find it.
Thanks!

x, y for point of intersection
Hi everyone,
?
I am trying to get a point of intersection between a
polyline and a straight line ?.. and get the x and y coordinates of this point.
For exemplification consider this:
?
?
set.seed(123)
?
k1 <-rnorm(100, mean=1.77, sd=3.33)
?k1 <- sort(k1)
q1 <- rnorm(100, mean=2.37, sd=0.74)
q1 <- sort(q1, decreasing = TRUE)
plot(k1, q1, xlim <- c((min(k1)-5),

Intersection for two curves
Does anyone know of a method that I can get the intersection where the red and blue curves meet i.e. the value on the x-axis?
x <- 1:10
y <- 10:1
plot(x,y)
abline(lm(y~x),col="blue")
abline(h=2.5,col="red")

finding the intersection of two vectors
Hi,
Suppose I have two vectors, not necessarily the same length (in fact,
they usually are different lengths): y.1 that has increasing values
between 0 and 1; y.2 that has decreasing values between 1.0 and 0. You
can picture these as being supply (= y.1) and demand (= y.2) curves from
economics. I typically plot these vectors on the same graph against a
common x variable, which happens to

Intersection of two sets of intervals
Hi,
Algorithm question: I have two sets of "intervals", where an interval is
an ordered pair [a,b] of two numbers. Is there an efficient way in R to
generate the intersection of two lists of same?
For concreteness: I'm representing a set of intervals with a data.frame:
> list1 = as.data.frame(list(open=c(1,5), close=c(2,10)))
> list1

how to join two arrays using their column names intersection
Dear all,
I have a problem that may be someone of you can help. I am a newbie and
do not find how to do it in manuals.
I have two arrays, for example:
ar1 <- array(data=c(1:16),dim=c(4,4))
ar2 <- array(data=c(1:16),dim=c(4,4))
colnames(ar1)<-c("A","B","D","E")
colnames(ar2)<-c("C","A","E","B")
> ar1

Fast set intersection
I was wondering if there were any R packages supporting fast set intersection.
I am aware of base::intersection, bit::`&`, and set::set_intersection,
each of which has its advantages. base::intersection is
space-efficient and accepts arbitrary unsorted lists of arbitrary base
types. set::set_intersection is very fast but requires space and time
proportional to the size of the universe, a

Re gression with Intersection Constraint
Hi,
Previously I posted a thread asking help on how to best-fit (in the least
squares sense) a straight line through a set of data points. Thanks a lot to
all replying to it. I managed it in Matlab using a function 'fit_3D_data'
(link:
