Centos 5.8 has no "Virtualization" install option
Hi, when I try to install Centos 5.8 on a Dell r410 then I don't get a "Virtualization" option during the package selection of the installer. Centos 5.7 does show that option fine. Is this a known issue? Regards, Dennis

Failed to allocate memory for kernel command line, bailing out
I am trying to add UEFI support to my existing PXE environment for kickstarting CentOS 7.0. With bios boot all is working well. I have added syslinux.efi and ldlinux.e64 from syslinux 6.03 to my tftp server and altered my dhcp server to boot syslinux.efi. I get to my usual menu fine, the server downloads vmlinuz and initrd.img fine but then bails out with "Failed to allocate memory for

[HOWTO] Update megaraid_sas driver in Linux 2.6.32.x to make it boot and work with Dell/LSI RAID adapters
Hello, I noticed the default megaraid_sas driver version in upstream Linux 2.6.32.25 is pretty old, version 4.01, and it seems to be very buggy. It fails to bring up disks and boot fails. Many people have reported this issue on various hardware using LSI RAID adapters, and on various Dell servers (R310/R410/R510/R710) using Dell PERC H700 RAID adapters (which are rebranded LSI adapters).

NFS client kernel panic
Hi everyone, I have an issue with NFS client when the NFS client loose connection with the NFS server. In certain conditions the NFS client freeze and the result is kernel panic. It seems that kernel panic occurs when the NFS client try to unmount the unreachable remote NFS partition. This case occurs about one time each two days. Latest 6.2 kernel is broken
I just kickstarted a new machine with the latest CentOS 6.2 files, including kernel 2.6.32-220.13.1.el6.x86_64. It came up without network interfaces. dmesg says: bnx2: Broadcom NetXtreme II Gigabit Ethernet Driver bnx2 v2.2.1 (Dec 18, 2011) alloc irq_desc for 36 on node -1 alloc kstat_irqs on node -1 bnx2 0000:01:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 36 (level, low) -> IRQ 36 bnx2 0000:01:00.0:

Hardware performance question : Disk RPM speed & Xen Performance
Hello, I am a relatively new user of Xen virtualization, so you''ll have to forgive the simplistic nature of my question. I have a Dell R410 poweredge server (dual quad core CPUs + 32gb ram). I plan on utilizing this server with Xen. The ''dilemma'' I am having is whether or not to replace the 2x 500gb 7.2K RPM drives that came with the server with faster 300gb

[PATCH] Fix null dereference oopses for nv40 cards
The problem affects nv40 cards during booting. It comes from there being two places where subdev arrays are maintained. A commit was recently added to make the two equal. However, the struct nouveau_device version ends up being referenced before it is initialized. The problem arises during the creation of the INSTMEM and THERM subdevs. ' Signed off by: Bob Gleitsmann rjgleits at bellsouth.net

BUG: xend oopses on munmap of /proc/xen/privcmd
This is with last night''s Xen snapshot (apr 24th), on kernel 2.6.12-rc3 - but the mess is so horrid that I''m not quite sure how to fix it... This oops prevents xen from starting xenU domains. Basically xend does the following: 1) mmap /proc/xen/privcmd 2) call an ioctl to populate the mmap 3) munmap the mapping created in (1) During the munmap, the dom0 kernel oopses, as

Interesting oopses...
OK - this is starting to get frustrating... Are there any known issues with 2.6.9 and traffic shaping? I am using 2.6.9 with geoip 20041115, and get odd oopses. The following script oopses my box: ----------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh -x IFOUT=''eth1'' IFIN=''eth0'' TC=''/sbin/tc''
