Im sorry to ask another basic question, but Ive tried to find this
answer for several hours now and it eludes me. Im getting the following

IMAP not working remotely
Hello,
I am trying to set up Dovecot 2.0.9 on Fedora 14. The problem I would like
to ask for resolution is that IMAP is not working when connecting to the
server from another network.
More precisely:
- POP3 is working entirely OK,
- IMAP is working OK when clients are connecting using local network
addresses, like 192.168.0.100,
- when a client connects from outside, thus using remote IP

Error: file_dotlock_create failed: Permission denied
Hi,
I have a Fedora 14 x86_64 computer. I run dovecot 2.0.12 on it, only to
keep a local imap copy of all my email, in maildir format. A couple days
ago the hard disk broke, so I bought a new one, and reinstalled Fedora 14
x86_64 with all the updates.
Then I copied all the maildirs from a backup to the new drive.
But I can't access email now. No matter how I change sticky bits or
ownership

Hi,
I'm having a problem with dovecot and postfix. I'm using a dovecot

Postfix (Version: 2.8.5) config is changed according to the

I have thought to build a virtual user and virtual mailbox, and use

However, when the test set, the mail not received the mailbox. Record

Bug: Creating mbox folders
Hey,
I had trouble this morning creating a folder to contain sub-folders. I
am using the mbox format. Turns out that the .imap directory in the new
folder (directory) was not being created. Anytime I tried to view a
sub-folder (using Thunderbird) dovecot would dump. Once I manually
created the .imap directory, it works fine.

Memory usage for reports
Hi,
I very recently upgraded from puppet 0.25.4 to 2.6.8 (both master and
all nodes), and I''m now facing serious memory usage issues. On the
master, I just added more RAM because I had the resources available
(from 2GB to 4GB). But on some nodes with 256MB of RAM, I now see some
load peaks and services being affected by high I/O caused by swapping.
My manifests haven''t changed,

trying to authenticate postfix against Dovecot 2.3.4.1 passwd-file, using lmtp
Sorry for all the notes;
I'm trying to have postfix 3.4.8, trying to authenticate postfix against
Dovecot 2.3.4.1 passwd-file, using lmtp.
Not sure if I'm failing because of a smtp failure or I'm not getting
authenticated by dovecot.

dovecot can't see mail that is there
I used to install dovecot on any Fedora fresh installation and I could fetch
my internal mail
few minutes later. Now I've been struggling for two days and I haven't got
my mail working yet.

I have Fedora 14 with sendmail. Some application on the same machine send
mail to an account
on the same machine (hence all is confined to one machine) and I want to
retrieve it from a laptop

Logging authentication failures when Dovecot's auth service used to authenticate postfix smtpd
Hello,
tl;dr: Is there a way to get dovecot's auth to log failed smtp
authentications without having to switch on "auth_verbose"?
postfix version 2.11.0 and dovecot version 2.2.12
I'm currently migrating my postfix+courier to postfix+dovecot and so
far it's working as expected. Except for logging smtp login failures.
Despite Postfix logging successful authentications (see

Dovecot sieve with postfix.
Hi all,
I can't get dovecot working with postfix. If I leave virtual_transport set
to "virtual", I can send and receive messages just fine in roundcube. If I
set virtual_transport to "dovecot", I can only send messages in roundcube,
but incoming messages never arrive. Seems I can't get dovecot-lda to work.
I need dovecot-lda in order for sieve filters to work.

newbie userdb lookup problem
I'm new to Dovecot and I'm having trouble getting basic, flat file userdb
lookups to work. This must have been asked before, but if so, I can't find
it.

I'm following the basic setup here:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/SimpleVirtualInstall with a few minor
differences. Output of doveconf -n is below, as well as relevant entries
from postfix main.cf and master.cf.

dovecot LDA w/virtual domains and postfix
Hi,
I've been trying to follow the documentation that I am finding, but am running
into trouble getting things set up correctly for postfix + virtual domains
(using ldap) with dovecot LDA. I can get it to work without LDA, but I'm
running into permissions problems when I try to run with LDA. I am wondering
if anyone has any good examples of configuring this.
I basically have a
