wine's iexplore: application protocols ?
I too had been wondering how certain applications manage to register custom protocols that indeed belong to them as when compared to the usual http we all know. Now correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me that Custom protocols do work in any kind of Wine applications.

wine's iexplore: application protocols ?
I have a question, some applications register their own "custom protocols", instead of http: it can be for example skype: or skp: . Google SketchUp for example uses skp: to communicate between javascript in webdialogs and its Ruby scripting language. At the moment, I have installed Microsoft's IE8 (otherwise I haven't got it to work). For various reasons I would prefer

iexplore ver 5.5 install can't load commctrl.dll
I have installed wine version 20020904 on: Linux kernel 2.2.14 glibc 2.1.2 gcc 2.95.3 kde-3.0.2 WINEDLLPATH=/usr/local/lib/wine (set after wine was installed) I commented out the code in cdrom.c that will not compile because of the old kernel (ie. references to SCSI_PASS). Wine will then compile and install and run. I then installed all of the fonts from sourceforge. Then I tried to install

IEXPLORE in wine/cvs works!
Hello... Just yesterday, I decided to give the current wine in cvs another try (I was using the monthly version that came out a week ago before that) -- and it seems thing's gotten better as IEXPLORE.EXE *works* (it did in the monthly version, but I hadn't seen it run successfully on wine-cvs before) (last time I installed IE using http://www.frankscorner.org/index.php?p=ie6 method

Application Design
Hi Railsers, How do you design your applications? Do you start coding HTML? Start with the controllers/models? Start in a program like photoshop/gimp/illustrator/inkscape? I start in inkscape, it''s a SVG editor. I sketch all the views of my application, and then I create the views that belong to one controller in RHTML. After that, I do the models/controller, and move on to the

copying over an existing file when not owner
SuSE 8.2/Samba 3.0.4-SerNet-SuSE One expects file's owner and date to be preserved when copying a file to an SMB share. But if a file with the same name is already there there are two different ways as to who will ultimately own the new file and what date will be stamped depending upon whether the file belongs to the copier or to someone else. If I try to copy a file to a samba share which

How Functional is Wine's IE supposed to be?
I haven't said much about this, but Wine's Internet Explorer has never really worked as web browser. I understand that the main purpose of Wine's Internet Explorer isn't to be a web browser, but to make Windows programs that require MS IE work. That said, one of the Wine 1.4 release criteria is "Builtin iexplore, Gecko". So I figured I should ask, "How functional

Re: Bug#181699: #181699 Re: #181699 wine: vague error message: "dramatically effect" in what way?
What really matters is not whether Wine has a Windows drive and filesystem to sit on top of, but whether or not Wine can use native Windows DLLs instead of its builtin ones. Some DLLs in Wine are so perfect that they can be used in Windows - no benefit will be gained from running an app that uses these natively. Some of Wine's DLLs are buggy or incomplete - using stock native Windows ones

Per application configuration files
Hi, Firstly, I'd like to know how it's possible to generate a blank configuration with WINE's defaults so I can configure them Secondly, I'd like to know whether you can create a configuration per application you wish to run, whether this could be passed to wine on the command line or whether you have to define a specific section of the wine config file. It's just that
