Checking if the VM has been created
I'm a Libvirt newbie and I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer my doubts. I'm using Libvirt's Java API. My doubts: 1.Currently, I'm able to create a VM on Ubuntu 11.04 using Libvirt functions domainCreateLinux() and domainDefineXML(). Apart fromt the boolean return status of these operations and running the virsh list command, is there any way to SSH in (login) to

Libvirt newbie, need help with doubts
Hi, These are my doubts: 1. I tried live migration of Ubuntu 11.04 from the one physical machine to another using the migrate() function. I connected via tcp in the destination URI and migrated successfully(lesser than 2 seconds). I tried running virsh list --all on the destination PM and confirmed that the VM had been migrated successfully. When I tried checking ps aux | grep vmname where

listDomains() not working on Xen
Hey all, I've been trying to make listDomains() work on Xen but it simply returns an array of null values. Also, while displaying the length of the array returned by listDomains(). Upon using the same function in KVM, I'm able to retrieve the complete array of active machines. I'm positive that active Xen machines are running(cross checked it with xm list). I've been posting this

Finding out if Xen or KVM is used
I've got 2 doubts: 1.I've been trying to write an application using Libvirt's Java API which should run on both Xen and KVM running machines and execute the Xen or KVM code based on the hypervisor used. I want the physical machine to know if it's running Xen or KVM and execute only that code. While using getURI(), I need to use it as conn.getURI() but then I can't use conn

libvir: Remote error : cannot recv data: : Connection reset by peer
I'm using Libvirt's Java API and connecting to the hypervisor using the same. My program is such that periodic discovery of active VMs is done using Libvirt's functions. However, when I try to perform any VM related operations while the Java code connecting to Qemu is running such as shutdown, start VM using virsh, I end up with : 'libvir: Remote error : cannot recv data: :

[PATCH] virt-diff: add additional ignore options
--compare-xattrs --compare-extra-stats --compare-perms --compare-uids --compare-times to ignore, when set to no, specified files informations when comparing. The current strategy to disable comparison on file informations is to flatten data structure so they return the same 0/NULL value on comparison and be, in fact, ignored to determine if the files differ. This patch preserve original

Quick tip please!
I have two CSV files (exported from Excel), say file1 and file2. The have the same number of rows, and each has several columns, with names on the first line; and some of the columns in file1 are repeated in file2. Using the "foreign" package, I can read these in separately to dataframes say d1 and d2 with > d1<-read.csv("file1") >

[PATCH v2] xfstests: btrfs/316: cross-subvolume sparse copy
This testscript creates reflinks to files on different subvolumes, overwrites the original files and reflinks, and moves reflinked files between subvolumes. Originally submitted as testcase 302, changes are made based on comments from Eric: http://oss.sgi.com/archives/xfs/2013-03/msg00231.html Two new common/rc functions used in this script (_require_cp_reflink and _verify_reflink) have been

Can't access opaque symlinks pointing to another Samba mount
Computer A runs my samba server. Has unix extensions = off, wide links = on (don't think this one matters with unix extensions off...) This way, if I have a symlink on my shares, clients see it as a normal file, not as a symlink. This works fine, even for symlinks to files outside the shares paths. Except when the symlink points to a file that is on a CIFS mount. So say I have computer B

Syncing file with reference to another one
I have the following situation: file2 on remote host and file1 on localhost. file1 and file2 are mostly the same. Simply running rsync remotehost:file2 file2 will actually transfer the entire file. But I would like to use the factt that I have local file1 that is mostly similar to file2. I.e. how can I make rsync to use file1 as a reference while transferring file2? (cp file1 file2 locally and
