LLVM Releases: Upstream vs. Downstream / Distros
I'll bite: Do you really believe you could ever get these folks to choose consistent llvm versions anyway? Or will you always have to do the work yourself anyway? In my talks with a number of these projects, they pretty much don't care what anyone else does, and plan to stick to their own import/etc schedules no matter what LLVM does with stable releases :) (For reference, Google

acts_as_taggable_on environment issues
Like most people, I''ve got two machines: one for development and one for production. I''ve done everything I can to make sure the ruby/rails environments are the same, but of course they''re not identical (I''ll get into that in a moment). The error that I''m getting happens when I call a method in a background task controller on the production machine; I

Disjointness between samba and distros?
Most major distros compile samba with out the ability to do AD DC (Ubutum, Fedora, Suse) I'm not against compiling or going with a non major distro like Zentyal but why do most major distros hold back from compiling samba with AD DC support? (speculation is mostly what I'm looking for) Fedora's documentation since samba 4.0 has stated "We'll provide Samba AD DC functionality

Installing Distros on Xen
I''ve setup Xen using Fedora Core 5, as a simple command during install sets up the Xen Kernel. What I want to know is how do I install a distribution on a new account? Using a script that came with Fedora 5 I am able to setup a new guest and it starts to install Fedora 5 on it over the internet, but due to the size of it, it takes a long time. I would like to install a smaller more

Linux distros and PPTP passthrough
Any recommendations for a Linux distro to put Shorewall on top of? My main concern is to be able to use a Windows NT PPTP VPN server behind the firewall. If I remember right, there were some issues with passing GRE traffic through some versions of the Linux kernel. Are they solved now or do I still have to do some cryptic kernel patches? Experiences with that? Thanks! Tim

sub menus / multiple distros on usb key w/ syslinux
being a complete novice with syslinux, I was hoping someone here could help me out. I have a USB Key that I have "broken" into two areas. General storage in the "back" and space for several live distributions on the front. What I need to do now is figure out how to make a syslinux.cfg file that would let me pick which one to boot at startup time. Basically, I want a menu
