Using libvirt to access Ceph RBDs with Xen
Hi everybody,
my background: I'm doing Xen since 10++ years, many years with DRBD for
high availability, since some time I'm using preferable GlusterFS with
FUSE as replicated storage, where I place the image-files for the vms.
In my current project we started (successfully) with Xen/GlusterFS too,
but because the provider, where we placed the servers, uses widely CEPH,
we decided to

Clarification about virsh migration options
I am trying to work out what all the options are for migrating a KVM
machine to another KVM machine, without using shared storage. The
documentation is not quite verbose and not intuitive, so I'm hoping
someone can explain this to me. The man pages show this syntax:
migrate optional --live --p2p --direct --tunnelled --persistent
--undefinesource --suspend --copy-storage-all --copy-storage-inc

as said from the download section. But I'm at a loss to what do after
that. I don't have much experience/knowledge in compiling etc, but I
still want to try out ogg. (I downloaded the source coz I have an OpenBSD
machine, and there was no

Issues while using kdb to debug Xen
Hi,
I have been trying to debug Xen using kdb. However, I am unable to
successfully boot dom0 after compiling and installing kdb.
Software/hardware config: Base distribution - Debian Lenny (64-bit) on a
Dell desktop (Optiplex 780) with a serial cable to another machine. Xen
4.0.1 (without kdb) works fine.
Here are the steps I followed to set up Xen-unstable with kdb.

[Jatin] Yes, init 0 does gracefully shutdown the server and power off.

I have a linux box which has CentOS running in it. I logged into the box
using root and wrote a script in the /home/proc_threads directory. saved
the file and quit. I changed the file permissions such that any user
could execute it using the "chmod 777 filename" command.
When i log out and log in as a non-root user i was not able to execute
the script though.

Re: VM Performance using KVM Vs. VMware ESXi
Thanks Dominique & Daniel.

SIGTERM signal to qemu-kvm process
Hi
I am using QEMU 0.12.1 as the hypervisor in my RHEL installation of 6.5.
I wanted to know if there are any side-effects with respect to VM image
corruption when i use SIGTERM signal to kill a qemu-kvm process which
effectively stops my VM running on the host.
Appreciate if you can provide me some valuable information in this regard.
Thanks

Very slow disk I/O
Hi Users
I am using RHEL 6.5 on my server.
From top command i can see that the processors in my server are
spending a lot of time on wait for I/O.
I can see high percentage in terms of 30-50% on "wa" time.
Here is the df output about the disk space in my system:

generating multiple instructions for a single pattern
Other suggestions
1/ Write a separate MI pass to split the macro MI which was generated
earlier as a result of ISel to multiple MIs.
2/ Take the decision of splitting later in the pipeling during MC lowering.
Decision about when you need to split should be driven by your intent to do
any further processing over constituent instruction.
