Why wireless interface cannot be attached to a Linux host bridge?
Hello, everyone. I'm from japan and using machine translation, so I apologize if it's hard to read. I am currently trying to build a virtual environment using Ubuntu and kvm. However, I found out from the following page that the virtual machine cannot use the bridge network because I am using a wireless network. https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking I am having trouble with this

KParts for KDE 3 , KDE 4
Hello, I started writing a KPart for swfdec so that it will work nicely in Konqueror. Currently it can load various movies using swfdec's built in loader and render them. Although swfdec's loader can only handle local URLs, KPart provides a mechanism to download movies to temporary local files if the part doesn't explicitly support non-local URLs. That works for simple movies, but I

Problem with ADS idmap backend
I'm running Samba 3.0.28a on a CentOS 3.9 box as a member of an AD domain whose PDC is a W2k3 server (Standard x64 R2 SP2). Using wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g I can see domain users and groups from the CentOS box, but getent (passwd|group) fails to display them. The nsswitch is setup correctly, as far as I can tell. When I tail -f the samba log file during a getent query, I see that winbindd is

Samba 4.6.11 member server group resolution not working
Hi, We recently upgraded some AD member file servers from 4.6.7 to 4.6.11. Since then, "getent group" has been failing to return groups properly after winbind's been running for a couple of days. We have a lot of entries in log.wb-<DOMAIN> like this: [2017/12/15 11:39:47.959368,  1] ../source3/winbindd/winbindd_ads.c:1236(lookup_groupmem)   lsa_lookupsids call failed

Server 2016 locked in paused state
Hi all, I have a number of production Windows servers on KVM/DRBD and two of them are Server 2016.  Both these guests have started exhibiting the same behaviour where they enter a paused state and will not resume. The behaviour is the same whether I use virsh or virt-manager. My only recourse is to force the guest off and start it again. This brings the host up temporarily where upon it

AD across sites
Hi Guys, Just need some guidance regarding AD across sites. We have two sites, siteA and siteB. Until about a month ago both sites were running NT4 domains, separate domains but with the same names, let's say thedomain. We classicupgrades siteA to AD and now need to migrate siteB to AD. The sites are connected with a WAN link We think ,the steps involved will be the following -

AD across sites
Hi Rowland, Let?s say due to number of machines involved, it is not practical to drop them off the NT4 domain all at once. We are thinking are two possible options - VLAN the ports and only allow certain machines to talk to serverb - Or use the host deny and host allow in smb.conf, example Host allow 10.10.10.5 Host deny 10.10.10.0 Preferably the second one Other questions If we have bind9

launch failure of appliance with nbd drive
I'm using qemu-nbd to setup the device with an offset into the image. Using libguestfs version 1.21.22 Code for adding the drive: char *server[] = { "localhost:3000", NULL }; if (guestfs_add_drive_opts (g, "" /* export name - see below */, GUESTFS_ADD_DRIVE_OPTS_FORMAT, "raw", GUESTFS_ADD_DRIVE_OPTS_PROTOCOL, "nbd",

smb_lookup error=-13
I am experiencing an odd problem while attempting to mount and access a directory with smbfs. smbclient does not exhibit the same behavior. I have created a directory /mnt/smb-test and am attempting to mount a volume from a NetApp Filer running OnTap 7 with NTFS security mode. An Active Directory DC handles security for the share. The Linux machine shows as registered in AD and I can use

Re: samba Digest, Vol 7, Issue 34
Make sure the XP box's firewall is disabled for the network connection you're using to connect to the samba server (advanced properties of the network connection). ________________________________________________________________________ > From: Francesc Guasch <frankie@etsetb.upc.es> > To: G?mes G?za <geza@kzsdabas.sulinet.hu> > Cc: samba@samba.org > Subject: Re:

Doveadm Backup issues
Hi, I'm trying to use doveadm backup but I'm having a few issues. When trying locally: `doveadm backup -D -A maildir:/usr/local/backup` It results that no mailbox is separated by user - all seems to sync on the same folder, messing up with the folder structure of the original maildir. When trying remotely: `doveadm backup -D -A -N ssh -i mykey root at myremotebackup.com:/backup

All VMs permanently 'paused'
I set up Alpine Linux as a libvirt-based KVM hypervisor last week. Everything was working beautifully on Friday. I left two Windows VMs up and running and two 'Saved' on Friday afternoon. When I go in this morning the two running ones were 'Paused' and I can't unpause them with virt-manager or with virsh. The other two saved ones I can start, but they are immediately paused

Doveadm Backup issues
Hi, As said below, I am trying to use doveadm backup. I made some progress, but I think I misunderstand some of the basic principles behind the command. My main issue is: when using the -A flag, is there a way to create the backup user on the remote server if it doesn't exist there? Another related question: if backing up on another location on the same computer, using -A doesn't
