Unable to start sandbox: Kernel module dir /lib/modules/3.18.5-x86_64-linode52/kernel does not exist
Dear all,
I have been trying to set up the set up Libvirt Sandbox without success.
I want to use virt-sandbox in order to run untrusted programs in a secure
environment. I am had no knowledge about virtualization until a couple of
days ago, so I am probably doing something wrong.
The scenario is the following:
Linode instance. OS that I have tried: Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14, Fedora 21.

setting up a vps for rails: looking for advice, tutorials, etc.
i am trying to learn how to setup and maintain a vps for some rails apps. i
have used shared and managed hosting but now i am looking for the freedom
and flexibility a vps offers. i signed up with linode to give me something
to play around with until i feel comfortable to deploy my live apps to a
vps. i want to learn best practices and how to do things right.
initially i plan on hosting only

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server

If you want to do this yourself for fun, here is what I believe a good way
to do it:
1. install and configure Dovecot with one account for each user; see for
example https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/quick_configuration/
2. install and configure OfflineIMAP to synchronize the IMAP folders
between your ISP

Mounting an lvm
I converted a system disk from a virtualbox
VM and added to the config on a qemu VM.
All seems well until I try to mount it. The
virtual machine shows data for the disk
image using commands like:
pvs
lvs
lvdisplay xena-1
but there is no /dev/xena-1/root to be
mounted. I also cannot seem to figure out
whether the lvm related modules are available
for the virtual machine kernel.
Has anyone

Looking for a better way to document my packages
Hi all,
Trying to do what my subject says.
As I'm trying to be better about making packages out of my code, I'd
like the packages themselves to be better, which means *.Rd-
documenting my code. The thing is, from years of programming other
languages prior to landing in the R pond, I've grown accustomed to
documenting my functions inline. I'm not just used to it, but I like

Request for help with dovecot.conf file: configured to work with MySQL and Postfix.
Greetings,
I have CentOS 6.2 running on our server with a VPS provider (Linode.com).
I need to configure Postfix, dovecot, MySQL to work for virtual domains
(multiple domains on our server).
The only instructions for setting up Email with Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL
my host provides is for the configuration on CentOS 5 which is here:

Problem using virt-manager to create a VM remotely
Well, not that remote. I'm trying to get it working
from my laptop to an ancient workstation behind me
I use for testing.
I appear to get the connection okay.
virt-manager --connect qemu+ssh://root@<host_ip>/system
I can click on the entry on the panel that comes up and
see facts about the remote machine.
I then tried the "Create a new virtual machine" item on the
tool

Virtualizing a an old SuSE system
I'm in the midst of an attempt to convert an
old and rather large SuSE server (5 disks) into
a virsh loadable VM. Has anyone else dealt with
the issues of systems of this sort? I'm at the
moment trying to hand construct a machine xml
file for it. I managed to create one which would
load but not start.
I'd appreciate some pointers and can supply
whatever info you'd like about what

Looking for Information on Commercial Deployments
Hi folks! I'm looking for someone who has placed a commercial deployment
of Samba into production in or around the Portland, OR area. If you are
on the US west coast, or can call me during work hours in the Pacific
time zone, I would even be happy to contact you by phone. My department
at work has a few questions, such as:
- Size of the deployment (in servers and users)
- How critical

ipset-service save fails when module compiled into kernel
I want to use the ipset-service to store ipsets persistently across boots.
(For use by iptables rules. firewalld has direct support for persistent
ipsets but I need the more general capability of raw iptables.)
I'm using a kernel with ipsets compiled in, rather than loaded as a module.
The support script that saves ipsets checks if the module is loaded before
saving and finds nothing, so

Disk atomicity...
I suspect the answer is no, as the very idea makes
my head hurt, but a confirmation would be nice:
Am I correct in assuming that it is a very bad idea
to mount a physical disk on both the physical machine
and on a hosted VM at the same time?
I can imagine getting away with it if one were RO, but
not otherwise.
Any takers?

Looking for Newsletter Stuff
Hey
I want to start the next Newsletter early so it can be a little more
relaxed. The next release will be the 1. April.
I really need someone to *interview*, just drop me a mail and I will
send you a few questions. This can be anyone from the community that has
some sort of CentOS install.
And then I want to introduce a new section called DeskShot where users
can show off their workplaces.

Reconnection problem with a USB device
This is going to be a bit off the wall as I doubt
many people are using a VM in quite the same manner
as I am in this case.
I have a new scanner at home, a Mustek A3USB 1200 Pro, which
requires a vendor supplied version of libsane to run. That is
a pain in the behind just to start with. To use that scanner
requires a 32b machine with sufficiently old versions of
various libraries. My primary
