Setup Mulitple VM's
I have a small public IP block (/29) I'd like to populate with VM's from a single physical box running CentOS/5. I'd like to get some thoughts on the best way to setup networking to support this. I'm OK with setting up the virtual hosts.
Any advice would be appreciated.
TIA...

Re: Netbios over IPSec
Actually - as I stated - I have cross subnet browsing working (and thus
wins). And I do have a samba box on both ends. The behaviour I noted
happens irregularly: sometimes I can open a share on the other subnet, but
mostly I cannot not.
I'll still have a look at your suggestions though, it might help.

Walkthrough available for bonding, bridging, and VLAN's?
Silvertip257, when you did this CentOS 6/KVM/bonding/bridging, did you
ever get all the parts playing together correctlhy?
I'm facing a setup with only two NIC's, and need for multiple trunked
VLAN access, and bonded pairs, and KVM based bridges to get the VM's
with exposed IP addresses. I can get basically any 2 out of the 3
server network components working, binding, VLAN's, or

defaultip= in sip.conf doesnt work?
I have several (various brand) sip devices with static IP's.
I understand that asterisk will not accept a registration from these
devices if the host= parameter is not set to 'dynamic' in sip.conf.
I want calls to these extensions to be routable even before the device
registers. I understand that is what defaultip= is supposed to do, but
it doesn't work. I get a busy tone when

problems with tftp-hpa timing out.
I'm difficulty diagnosing a tftp-hpa problem. Specfically, when
performing a PXE boot, the machine hangs at the "TFTP...." and times out.
This is only occuring at one network location (we'll call it network A).
Now on network B, the computers on network can tftp boot no problem.
If I run a tftp client from my workstation to connect to the tftp-hpa
server on network A, I can

QoS and IPSec...
Hi, I have what to me is an interesting issue. I am wanting to
prioritize (QoS) traffic that will be passing through an IPSec
(OpenS/WAN) VPN between two (identical) Linux routers. I know that I
can apply the IPSec patches (1-4) to the kernel and IPTables (if they
are not already applied by now) filter traffic before and after IPSec
encapsulation. My problem is that I don''t know

Configure / enable xenbr1 on SLES10 base system
Hi,
We have configured several xen guest OSes on a server running SLES10.
The physical server is a Sun 4200 with 3 NICs installed, configured, and
working.
Each of the xen guest OSes have three virtual nics, configured for RAC,
Interconnect, and public IPs as follows;
eth0 - public (routable and registered in DNS)
eth1 - private (not routable, uses a seperate network subnet for

Software Anounce: htb frontend, for multiple hosts auto bandwidth management
Hi all, i''ve coded htb-gen, a GPL htb frontend and much more...
htb-gen is meant to be an easy, scalable, yet powerfull, bandwidth
management tool. You can set up/down portions of bandwith for each
host or network, that goes trough your router/firewall.
Prioritary traffic(web, mail, gaming, ftp, voip, streaming) is
preferred over Junk traffic(kazaa, emule, etc). Also dynamic
bandwith

net ads join disable dns update
We have a couple oracle RAC servers that we install samba/winbind on. These servers require multiple NIC's / IP's.
The problem is when we do "net ads join" it updates windows DNS and really screws us up because seven IP's get put into DNS, all tied to the same host, including the interconnect IP's which oracle insists needs to be 169.254.x.x addresses. Because of the

networking in xen
Hi,
Question on setting up networking in xen. I want to do the following on my
laptop:
dom0 is attached to eth0 and ath0.
dom1 is going to by my virtual firewall for all my virtual machines. So I
assume 3 interfaces, a bridge to eth0, ath0 and a virtual interface?
dom2 and so on will route all their traffic through dom1 (through the
virtual interface)
I''ve read the documentation a

configuration file for tunneling device
Hi,
For Ethernet and others, we have a configuration file inside
/etc/sysconfig/newtork-script/ like ifcfg-ethx where we specify ip
address, mask, type etc... For GRE tunneling, how can I specify the
parameters for tunneling device, so that I ifup-tunnel will automatically
read and start the interface and I don't have to write the below scripts
in my start-up file.

DMZ hosts gateway
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the default gateway for hosts on DMZ zone. I moved servers from parallel to the DMZ (outside the firewall, directly connected to I-net) to inside DMZ. The default gw for these servers was the DSL router(bridge) of my ISP.
What should be the default gw (for the hosts inside the DMZ), when hosts are inside the DMZ now - still the DSL router (external

how do you rate limit routable traffic without rate limiting LAN protocols like arps and igmp?
I''m rate limiting and prioritizing traffic upstream of a slow wan link
using htb, classic wonder shaper type stuff. I''m using the following
command for traffic that does not match any of my defined filters:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 50
It appears that local, non-routable traffic like arps and igmp are being
snared by this and end-up queued in the lowest

bad udp cksum
Hi,
Recently I'm noticing an interesting issue.
My CentOS servers are trying to send logs to a logging server via 514/udp,
however I'm not receiving anything.
I did the following on CentOS
*tcpdump -vvv -nn udp -i esn160 port 514*
In another session on the same server:
*nc syslog-server -u 514*
tcpdump started to show me messages like:
*[bad udp cksum 0x3ce9 -> 0xb0f5!] SYSLOG,

location I have a T1. I have 5 internet routable IP''s. I''m currently
using one as my default internet connection. My ISP''s router is
