Changing dnsmasq DNS settings for virtual machines
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone, maybe this is an old fart, but I cant get it to work. I am running libvirt on a laptop, where a dnsmasq is already running to delegate dns info for my local (not-public) network. My resolv.conf (on the host) lists the system-dnsmasq as first server. I had to set the listen-adress for the system-dnsmasq to 127.0.0.1 and set

[OT] DNSmasq - a simple solution for DNS and DHCP
Hi, I would like to make Sambaadmins aware of the simple and powerfull program dnsmasq. It makes setting up a caching dnsserver + dhcp-server that maps local machines to the local domain a breeze, something that is missing in the samba howto collection (http://www.bibsyst.no/samba/docs/man/DNSDHCP.html#id2981727). I've been running it for two months now, so I felt it was time to recomend

Questión about DNS config on dnsmasq
Hello guys... I'm using libvirt in my local laboratory and I have a question/problem about DNS settings over dnsmasq (by libvirt) I have a NAT network separately from my real network, i need simulated some DNS hosts to NAT network like ftp.debian.org (for testing purposes, etc) This is for example a dumpxml (yes, i'm using PXE boot for testing and is working fine) <network>

DNSMasq and OpenWRT as DHCP and Internal DNS
Hello I use DNSMasq on OpenWRT router, OpenWRT provides also DHCP. Another linux box works as PDC with Samba 4. Everything seems to be ok except .... Internal DNS. Whole Domain (60 machines) works ok but only Domain Controler created it's account in dns. How can i diagnose problem? Maybe it is fault of DHCP on OpenWRT and should switch to DHCP on samba box? Bug#608574: [PATCH] updated rules for dnsmasq
Package: logcheck I'm running dnsmasq-2.52 on a Gentoo Linux server, and the default rules for dnsmasq needed a few minor updates. See attached patch for suggested changes. Re: My VMs don't get IP with libvirt and dnsmasq
Hi, I've seen this before. First, the simple steps: have you started that network? (virsh start network-name) do you have installed the tools to work with bridges in your OS? can you check if the bridge exist in your OS and if the vm's interface is attached to it? In rhel you use the command brctl to do that, don't know about ubuntu... Best Regards, DR On Thu, Apr 16, 2020 at

NetworkManager dnsmasq plugin
I am trying to get dnsmasq to work through NetworkManager by putting dns=dnsmasq into /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf NetworkManager still works but dnsmasq doesn't start. I get this error in /var/log/messages: could not load plugin 'dnsmasq' from file '/usr/lib64/NetworkManager/libnm-settings-plugin-dnsmasq.so And the referenced file doesn't exist, as stated. So

libvirt/dnsmasq is not adhering to static DHCP assignments
This is basically a continuation of an older posting[0] I found, but apparently no solution has been posted. So, I'm trying to setup static DHCP leases with dnsmasq that is being started by libvirtd: ----------------------------------------------------------- $ sudo virsh net-dumpxml --network default <network> [...] <dns enable='no'/> <ip
