undefining and redefining a Domain
<resending as I don't think I was in the mailing list yet when I sent first time... apologies if you receive this twice> Hello, I'm facing some strange behavior, and I hope you can provide a clarification. Consider the following code: virDomainPtr dom = virDomainLookupByName(virt, domain_name); if (dom) { printf("domain already

virt-install error: "virDomainLookupByName() failed got unknown HTTP error code 400"
Hi there, I've been happily installing VMs in CentOS 5.2's Xen implementation using virt-manager. However, my latest attempt to use the install wizard in virt-manager failed when I got to the networking screen. The 'forward' button was unresponsive, and I was unable to proceed. I checked the virt-manager logs, and saw this appearing immediately after I tried to proceed:

libvir: Domain Config error : internal error incorrect root element
hi, When I use dom = virDomainDefineXML(conn, xml) to define xml, I countered a problem that " libvir: Domain Config error : internal error incorrect root element". Could you please tell me what's wrong with it? I tend to debug such problem above by gdb to step into virDomainDefineXML. When I press "step" in gdb, the console just shows the wrong messages, so I fail to

HWEBayes, swapping the homozygotes genotype frequencies
I evaluated the Bayes factor in the k=2 allele case with a "triangular" prior under the null as in the example in the help file: HWETriangBF2(nvec=c(88,10,2)) [1] 0.4580336 When I swap the n11 entry and n22 entry of nvec, I received totally different Bayes factor: > > HWETriangBF2(nvec=c(2,10,88)) [1] 5.710153 > In my understanding, defining the genotype frequency as

How to list and change domain's disk image file
Hi I'm writing a C program using libvirt API and need to list the storage volumes used by each domain. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this better of searching the XML strings of all domains, does anyone can suggest me something ? I also need to create a function to change the img file of a given domain. I intend to do the following: 1. virDomainGetXMLDesc (domain) 2. change the

Trouble using virStream with callbacks
I am trying to write a simple app which connects a channel obtained from virDomainOpenChannel() to stdin/stdout (based in part on the snippet at [1]). However, it seems like the data received back from the stream is delayed by one iteration. It would be hard to explain this by simply showing the output, so here's a timeline instead: 1. start the program on the host 2. write "msg from

how to change existing domain xml?
Hi. I'm trying to change network settings for a domain via libvirt (the driver is xenapi) with no success. According to its sources, 'virsh edit' uses virDomainGetXMLDesc(), allows to edit the received xml and then use virDomainDefineXML(). In case of xenapi driver it leads to a new vm creation (with the same name and edited settings). Looking through the list of API functions I

renaming a domain
Hello, In my system a VM with a given domain name is defined and started. At a certain point I will define and start a new VM, with a different name. I then want to dispose of the old VM and rename the new one to the old one. Unfortunately I didn't find any API to do the last step. Is it possible to change the domain name of a running VM? Thanks, Roberto

Xen Store error : out of memory
Hi, I''m running snv84 on a SunFire x2200M2, 2 dualcore opterons, 8GB ram, 2 mirror sata disks (zfs). I tried to install both Ubuntu 7.1 Desktop and Fedora 8 into a HVM domU but failed everytime. The VNC-Server for the domU dies, but the domain still consumes CPU time, disks go idle after a while (zpool iostat or iostat show zero I/O). The domUs booted up fine, the installer started,

virDomainGetInfo() returns wrong domain state
Hi Team, I have written below code to get the VM state at run time. I found, though the VM is in shut-off state, when I use the function virDomainGetInfo(); I get state as running. Could you please let me know what wrong I am doing. To know the actual VM state I used 'virsh list' and it clearly shows the VM is in shut-off state. Please find the log and code snippet below. Log from virsh:

Detecting of features of VMs
Hi, I was asked by Nir and Eyal of the oVirt project on how to detect whether a certain feature is supported by libvirt. As I thought it might be better to document this publically rather than being lost in a private thread I'm posting this to libvirt-users. The specific question will be answered below. --- There are currently two interfaces which allow discovery of libvirts and in turn
