driver type for .vdi images?
Hello libvirt experts, I use libvirt (0.7.5-5ubuntu27.7) with KVM / qemu (0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.2). Some machines use raw images but same use Virtualbox images (.vdi). Since last Ubuntu 10.04 LTS update I can not start the vdi-images. The "driver name= type=" option was new. <devices> <emulator>/usr/bin/kvm</emulator> <disk type='file'

SASL GSSAPI error "Key table entry not found"
My server and client are running Ubuntu Lucid, libvirt-bin 0.7.5-5ubuntu27, qemu-kvm-0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9 and I'm using virt-viewer-0.0.3-6ubuntu7.xul19 or virt-manager-0.8.2-2ubuntu8 to connect. I configured SASL2 to use GSSAPI for libvirt following the instructions in the libvirt docs, created a keytab with libvirt/my.fully.qualified.domain at MY-REALM.COM (has a dash fwiw) and pointed

Samba 3 Beta and Encryption Issues
Hi All, This is an update/question about the new beta release of Samba. I installed it onto a test bay. One machine is Redhat 7.3, one is XP. For our purposes, the clients need to have encryption turned off (IE: we enabled cleartext passwords). With Samba 2.2.7, I had PDC support, including roving profiles and login scripts working when ecryption was turned on, both server-side and

launch failure of appliance with nbd drive
I'm using qemu-nbd to setup the device with an offset into the image. Using libguestfs version 1.21.22 Code for adding the drive: char *server[] = { "localhost:3000", NULL }; if (guestfs_add_drive_opts (g, "" /* export name - see below */, GUESTFS_ADD_DRIVE_OPTS_FORMAT, "raw", GUESTFS_ADD_DRIVE_OPTS_PROTOCOL, "nbd",

Re: starting lxcs from within a vm using libvirt
Just another ping, and please let me know if this is not the proper format to re-ask my submitted question, but anyone else having any joy on running lxcs via libvirt launched from within a vm? ________________________________________ From: libvirt-users-bounces@redhat.com <libvirt-users-bounces@redhat.com> on behalf of Robb Walker <rwalker@DRWHoldings.com> Sent: Thursday, July 10,

starting lxcs from within a vm using libvirt
my goal for testing/simulations is to be able to run a vm on my desktop and within that vm run linux containers currently I can start an ubuntu trusty vm using libvirt as my broker to qemu or qemu-system-x86_64 directly and start a saucy-based lxc using lxc-tools. I invoke lxc-start -n name -f configfile and within a few seconds I'm logged into my saucy based lxc. I can't start the lxc

SRTP with accounts in mysql database
Hi, the ecnryption tutorial[1] says to add 'encryption=yes' into sip.conf for a peer to use SRTP. I have all the account information in a mysql database in a table called `sippeers` asterisk uses. The table doesn't seem to have a column for this option. How can I specify it; where in the database do I put it? Can I just add a column `ecryption` and put 'yes' (or no)

tinc + OpenSSL
Hello, I just want to ask if it has been considered to use OpenSSL for the encryption stuff. I guess they've spent quite some time on the subject and have the cipher routines both debugged and optimized. I know that some of the current cipher code was taken from SSLeay but since OpenSSL is de facto SSLeay successor, it might give tinc more flexibility and allow the user to choose

I hope this is simple I have one kvm host that lists all my domains even after shut down. 'virsh list --all' shows machines in 'running' and 'shut off' states. If I copy those over to another machine and it only shows the virt machines in running state. vmhost2:~$ virsh list --all Id Name State ---------------------------------- 4 mybox4

I have a daemon running the interacts with libvirtd, but it only creates two long-lived connections (I'm very sure). What constitutes an

VM not booting with physical hardware attached
Dear all, I'm looking for a bit of help with a problematic VM. We have an hypervisor which has 4 eth ports. 3 are already used, and I wanted to pass the 4th one directly to a VM (which is fully working without it). So, I modified the XML accordingly (which matches our hardware), adding: <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <source>
