what a correct use for virConnectDomainEventRegisterAny API, how to Obtain a stable expected result
HI, everyone: My target deal with network hotplug use virDomainDetachDeviceFlags. Because when the API return ,the network maybe doesn’t remove from my vm guest os. So I use virConnectDomainEventRegisterAny to register an event ID: VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_ID_DEVICE_REMOVED , my process as follow:

Detaching device behaviour
Hi all. In libvirt documentation it is written that virDomainDetachDeviceFlags is an asynchronous call: http://libvirt.org/html/libvirt-libvirt-domain.html#virDomainDetachDeviceFlags Does that mean that also virDomainDetachDevice is asynchronous? the reasons mentioned in the above seems relevant for this one as well. Thanks!

when virEventAddTimeout trigger timeout ,should in the callback call virConnectDomainEventDeregisterAny ?
hi, all I do a hotplug detach a network in a thread, because virDomainDetachDeviceFlags maybe asynchronous, so I do like follow: cb_para->cluster_id = info->cluster_id; cb_para->group_id = info->group_id; cb_para->vsys_id = info->vsysid; cb_para->vnf_id = info->vnf_id; cb_para->conn = conn; cb_para->time_out = 20*1000;//20s

Getting CPU and memory usage statistics for the host
Hi, I have noticed that virt-manager has the ability to show me the current cpu- and memory-usage of both the host and running guest machines. How does it do that? I could make good use of that information myself in the client applications I'm writing, however, from what I can see on http://libvirt.org/html/libvirt-libvirt.html, I have no idea how to go about getting it from libvirt. Re: Detach disk from VM - virsh (working) vs. PHP (not working)
Thank you for your help! 1, i used vda as install disk and vdb as target disk, because i boot from the first. After setup boot order flag i was able change install disk to vdb and target disk to vda. With this configuration when i boot from vdb i can install OS with grub and after it redefine XML without vdb without problem. Thanks a lot. 2, maybe i have something wrong, but still not working:

why virConnectDomainEventRegisterAny can't alway trigger the callback ,how can i get a stable callback ?
hi, all: I create a vm with six nic, after the vm start, i delete tree nics. all the three nic delete logic will happen in a thread , every nic delete has the following process: int vnf_control_del_network(void *arg) { 。。。。。 call_id = virConnectDomainEventRegisterAny(conn, dom, VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_ID_DEVICE_REMOVED, VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_CALLBACK(vnf_control_del_network_cb), cb_para,

[PATCH Fedora libguestfs] Don't depend on libvirt-daemon-kvm monolith.
libguestfs usually needs qemu. However it only requires an emulator for the same architecture, not for all architectures. libvirt-daemon-kvm pulls in qemu which pulls in emulators for all architectures, as well as a bunch of other stuff we don't need at all like network interface support and nwfilter. There are no Fedora TCG-only arches, so drop the conditional section. I also made support

Cannot create qcow2 images with libvirt 0.8.1
Hi, After upgrading to libvirt 0.8.1, I can no longer create empty volumes with no backing store and an explicit format of qcow2. This XML volume definition: <volume> <name>testserverb-data2.img</name> <allocation>0</allocation> <capacity units='G'>20</capacity> <target> <format type='qcow2'/>

How to tell if a hypervisor connection has died?
Hi, What's the best way to tell if a virConnect object is not good to use anymore? (For example because the libvirtd on the other side crashed/has been stopped or because of some network failure) When I try this, the first API call I do on a broken connection yields an error with error number 38 (VIR_ERR_SYSTEM_ERROR) and all subsequent calls yield an error number 1

Better error codes when stopping a VM that is already stopped
Hi, Sometimes when stopping a virtual domain using virDomainDestroy(), I come across a domain that is already stopped. (For example when someone already stopped the domain manually using virsh or because the guest OS issued a shutdown.) This is a special case that I absolutely need to catch and handle. Unfortunately, when this happens, and I call virGetLastError() afterwards, I always just

NWFilter and IPv6
Hi, Libvirt's nwfilter ships a number of useful filter scripts by default, but none to handle IPv6 traffic. Is there a particular reason for that, or is that just because nobody has got around to that yet? One interesting thing about dealing with IPv6 traffic is that hosts often have several auto-configured addresses, usually at least one auto-configured link- local address under

Bug? virGetLastError() returns NULL after virDomainCreate() if Domain running already
Hi, As the subject line indicates, when I'm calling virDomainCreate() to start a defined domain, and that command fails because the domain is already running at that point, virGetLastError() will return NULL, instead of a proper pointer to an error code. Libvirt will, however, print an error to the console: libvir: QEMU error : Requested operation is not valid: domain is already running

Migrating fails with "Timed out during operation: cannot acquire state change lock"
Hi, After recently upgrading to 0.9.11 (as shipped with Fedora 17), I was just trying to migrate a qemu domain from one host to another (using virDomainMigrateToURI()), when I got this error message: Unsafe migration: Migration may lead to data corruption if disks use cache != none Okay, this is explainable (if a bit disappointing - I would have hoped that qemu would be able to disable disk
