Problem starting libvirtd 0.9.3 on Ubuntu
I just built libvirt 0.9.3 from scratch on my Ubuntu 10.10 system. It
appeared to build and install correctly.
When running a command like 'virsh -c qemu:///session list --all', I get
the following:
error: Failed to connect socket to '@/home/heath/.libvirt/libvirt-sock':
Connection refused
error: failed to connect to the hypervisor
When looking into it, I realized libvirtd

libvirt, OSX and VirtualBox - how?
I have a new OSX Lion Macbook and would like to control VirtualBox using
"virsh" (as I do with KVM under Ubuntu).
I've got this far:
* Installed VirtualBox
* Installed libvirt (brew install libvirt)
But now I'm a bit stuck :-)
I ran VirtualBox itself, and created a test VM successfully.
If I try to use virsh, this is what I get:

OSX: trying to use libvirt 1.1.0 with VirtualBox 4.2
I see that libvirt 1.1.0 should now support virtualbox 4.2, but I'm
having problems getting it to work in OSX.
I have built it using homebrew, which now has 1.1.0 in its formulae.
The error I get when tying to connect is shown below. Any suggestions
for where I should look next?
The error about "Failed to find user record for uid 'NNNNN'" is odd.

that seems to be harmless and is caused by libvirtd being shut off.
Then I get:

Hey John,
Hehe, I got the right guy then. Very nice! And very good ideas but I
may need more time to reread and try them out later tonight. I'm fully
in agreement about providing more details. Can't be accurate in a
diagnosis if there isn't much data to go on. This pool option is new to
me. Please tell me more on it. Can't find it in the file below but

Failed to launch libvirt 1.2.7
Hello,
I am currently working on Redhat 6 - Kernel 2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64. It has
by default libvirt 0.10.2.
I wanted version 1.2.7. So I downloaded this and libvirt-1.2.7.tar.gz and I
followed the following steps:
1. ./configure (with its default settings)
2. make
3. make install
Currently, the installation is in: /usr/local
and the source tree is in /export/home/libvirt.
I stopped the

Start of libvirtd fails with error "undefined symbol: __virAlloc"
Hello List
like described in the topic I have a problem with starting the libvirtd. I'm a complete newbie with libvirtd, today I heard the first time that such a daemon exists after I get the message that our webserver isn't running (a former colleague has installed this system).
We have the following configuration: A Ubuntu based host on which our webserver runs within a qemu virtual

Can you provide some more details with respect to which libvirt version
you have installed. I know I've made changes in this space in more
recent versions (not the most recent). I'm no root_squash expert, but I
was the last to change things in the space so that

Re: Failed to launch libvirt 1.2.7
Hello,
Did You try to run autogen.sh with "--system" flag before doing "make"?
As it is described in http://libvirt.org/compiling.html - maybe that
would help You.
