iscsi w/ libvirt
"Playing" with a NAS capable of iscsi ... trying to make use of it
within the virtual machine manager.
Could someone point me at or provide me an example/screenshot of adding
iscsi to my KVM-host?
I think I still don't get it.
Should I add an iscsi-LUN as a storage-pool? Or as single disk to a VM?
Could someone pls point me at some docs to make me understand?
Thanks a lot,

can CentOS act as an iSCSI server?
Hi all,
I would like to know if I could share some space on on of my servers,
to another server(s) using the iSCSI protocal? I can see that CentOS
can connect to an iSCSI server, but can it act as a iSCSI server?
Is so, does anyone have some good HOWTO / tutorials / docs on how to set it up?
I'm running CentOS 5.2

iSCSI ini and ESX Server
I always used IET on CentOS but I have a quick server to setup to backup some VM's, then migrate to DAS
on another server and the easiest way for me will be to accomplish this via iSCSI vmfs stores. I figured I would
just use the ini that ships with CentOS but have never used it against ESX, anyone do this and have experiences
they care to share? Should it be trivial or are there any non

Rsyncing huge file, timeout on rsyncd
Hello,
let me describe my setup.
Source server is debian wheezy, rsync 3.0.9
Destination is qnap TS-410, with rsyncd enabled, rsync 3.0.7
I'm trying to rsync two files, which are exported from source server as iscsi
targets (windows iscsi backups). Files are on btrfs, so I use snapshots during
rsync, so files don't change.
One file is 50GB, second is 550GB in size.
Initial sync over

tgtadm and exported iscsi volumes
Out of haste I decided for the first time not to pull down and compile
iet to export a single volume to a windows machine so I just used tgtd.
Well, much more time later than otherwise would be the case had I used
iet, when I mount the volume on the windows ini, it can't find and install
a driver? WTF?
This have anything to do with the tgtd being a tech preview:)
Anybody seen this b4?

how to match the ID of a LUN in a storage pool with the GUID on the target server
I've configured a libvirt storage pool using an iscsi target from a Sun
7310 storage appliance and am using the LUNs in this target as volumes
for my KVM guests. The setup is very similar to what Daniel covered in
a recent blog posting:
http://berrange.com/posts/2010/05/05/provisioning-kvm-virtual-machines-on-iscsi-the-hard-way-part-2-of-2/
It works great, but I can't figure out how

libvirt does not recognize all devices in iscsi and mpath pools in a predictable manner
Hi,
I'm using libvirt 0.8.3 on Fedora 14 (as I wrote earlier, I'm having some
trouble updating to the newest version), and I'm having problems getting iscsi
and mpath storage pools to work in a usable and consistent manner.
I have two storage pools defined on the host machine, one for raw iscsi-
devices and one for those same iscsi devices device-mapped by multipath. They

Does libvirt-sanlock support network disk?
Hello,
As we know, libvirt sanlock support file type storage. I wonder *if it
supports network storage.*
I tried *iSCSI*, but found it didn't generate any resource file:
Version: *qemu-2.10 libvirt-3.9 sanlock-3.5*
1. Set configuration:
qemu.conf:
*lock_manager = "sanlock"*
qemu-sanlock.conf:
*auto_disk_leases = 1disk_lease_dir = "/var/lib/libvirt/sanlock"host_id =

[PATCH] Enable uppercase letters to be entered in QEMU monitor terminal
Changeset 10742:3e07ec30c445 made it possible to switch to the QEMU
monitor terminal when using the VNC display protocol. Unfortunately
the VNC key handling is rather crazy, so even if you have the shift
key pressed, a VNC client will send a lowercase letter, expecting the
server to interpret the state of the shift key as desired.
Normally in HVM guests, the guest OS does this interpretation

i have a debian Etch x86_64 with a xen 3.1 on a kernel 2.6.18-xen.
I have some DomU with Debian Etch.
I installed open-iscsi, configure /etc/iscsi/iscsid.conf:

can't start iscsi - and can't find answer on google
Hi all,
I have the strangest problem on one of our backup server. iscsi
doesn't start at all, and gives the following error:
[root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi status
iscsid is stopped
[root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi start
iscsid is stopped

iscsi-initiator-utils required in 5.6, loads uneeded modules
I just updated one of my virtual hosts to 5.6 and on rebooted I spotted
an error about iscsi.
Which surprised me, since I don't use iscsi.
Yet there it is...
% rpm -qf /etc/init.d/iscsi
iscsi-initiator-utils-6.2.0.872-6.el5
And they're configured to start
iscsi 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
iscsid 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on

Xen domU''s and iscsi initaitor problems.
Hello, I have been using Xen now for several months and have been
quite successful until attempting to utilize iscsi within my domU''s.
My research has turned up many posts of people using iscsi with no
problems, and I have found no others with the problem I seem to be
experiencing. If this has been covered on this list in the past,
please accept my humble apologies.

Best way to take snapshots of iSCSI devices using Open-iSCSI + CentOS
Hi,
I want to take snapshots of a iSCSI devices from a target that hasn't
snapshot/cloning capabilities (it's a Infortrend A16E storage array).
What method are you using to make snapshots/clones of iSCSI targets
using Open-iSCSI + CentOS? What about using Open-iSCSI + LVM snapshots
system? For example:
- Take a LVM snapshot in the initiator with "lvcreate".
- Give read-only

iSCSI / GFS shared web server file system
We currently have a MD3000i with an iSCSI LUN shared out to our apache web
server. We are going to add another apache web server into the mix using
LVS to load balance, however, I am curious how well iSCSI handles file
locking and data integrity. I have the iSCSI partition formatted as ext3.
Is my setup totally flawed and will ext3 not allow for data integrity with
multiple apache hosts
