Announcement: PRNGD 0.9.0 available
Hi! I have just made the 0.9.0 release of PRNGD available. PRNGD is the Pseudo Random Number Generator Daemon. It has an EGD compatible interface and is designed to provide entropy on systems not having /dev/*random devices. Software supporting EGD style entropy requests are openssh, Apache/mod_ssl, Postfix/TLS... Automatic querying of EGD sockets at fixed locations has been introduced in the

Samba 4.7rc4. (Debian Stretch Amd64 packages/sources available)
Hai,   Can anyone ( one of the devs)  tell if its safe for a samba 4.7rc4 to join and samba 4.6(.7) AD DC domain. Any do/donts, im asking so i can test a DC join, but i want to test in my production even, since that are the best tests. First test of a clean ADDC install looks ok.   Aand yes, i have already made 3 backups of the DC's, already when i go testing.  i can restore quickly.   ;-)

[Lutz.Jaenicke@aet.TU-Cottbus.DE: 2.9p1: HP-UX 10.20 utmp/wtmp handling broken?]
Hi! I am resending the following message about problems with utmp handling. * In the meantime I had some request in private mail from people asking whether I have new information. * The problem is still persistant in 2.9p2. * My own new investigations show, that the problem only appears with protocol 2, not with protocol 1, I therefore only started to note it when protocol 2 became the

Upgrade 4.8 to 4.9 with Backend-Change to lmdb?
Yes, Ive fixed 1 of the 2 problems at install. Im testing fix 2 atm, and ask @technical for extra info. There are 2 bugs with the upgrade of 4.8 to 4.9. For others, please note, i've only tested this on debian with the debian packages (experimental) and my own packages. Bug 1) at install samba is unable to start due to : a change (commit) 0b261dc4e3f2 in 4.9 that requires to have

After compiling Wine which files can I delete safely?
Hi, I've been trying to track down the version of Wine that a bug first appeared. I've downloaded each Wine source, compiled them, and am running the application from their build directory. It's no surprise that I'm slowly running out of disk space. I'd like to keep the build directories for further testing. What files can I remove safely? Has anyone written a script for

[LLVMdev] Fwd: [llvm-commits] [PATCH] Building llvm-gcc with llvm-2.5 debian packages
Hi, Anybody has an opinion would it be good thing to add support for llvm- gcc to be able to be built with existing llvm installation? Right now building works with llvm installation also, but only if llvm libs and includes are installed under the same prefix, even though this seems to be unintended functionality. So after support for building llvm-gcc without llvm sources it would be

floppy's led doesn't turn off. Can I safely pull off the floppy media?
syslinux 3.11 (from debian's 3.11-3 package) does it job. The machine boots as expected with an 1.44 floppy. Yet the floppy driver's led doesn't turn off. 1) Is this a syslinux issue? 2) Can I safely remove the boot floppy (media) without dameging it? From memory: $ cat syslinux.cfg say linux 2.6.14 (probably with debian modifications) default linux append root=/dev/nfs

when .Call can safely modify its arguments
Hi, "Writing R Extensions Guide" clearly states that a C-function interfaced via .Call() should not modify any of its arguments. However I wonder if there are exceptions to this rule, i.e. when .Call can safely modify the arguments. For example when a function creates a list that is then populated by a call to a C function: getData <- function() { data <- list(a=double(2),
