qlogic driver not scanning scsi bus on load CentOS 5.1
Very strange behavior, been banging my head against the wall on this one too. It works fine on CentOS 4.6, the behavior is when the driver loads the bus is not scanned or at least the devices that are exported are not detected. (they are detected in the HBA bios no problem). If I issue the qlogic bus scan command it doesn't get anything back either. If I manually add the devices with

OCFS and multipathing
I've got my RAC cluster running pretty smoothly now (thanks again for all the help so far), but I only have single connections between the servers and the RAID array. The servers each have two Qlogic HBAs, and I'd like to find out if there's any reasonable way to implement multipathing. The platform is RHEL 3, and Red Hat's knowledgebase indicates that they strongly recommend

How to prevent loading qla2300.o module
I apologize in advance as this is not really at CentOS specific issue, but I don't know where else to turn. We are configuring some Dell 1850s for a customer, and they have all been configured with a QLogic dual channel HBA. But no storage has been (or will be in the near future) attached to these HBAs. During the boot process (both for the kickstart and after the OS has been

working with multiple password protected iSCSI targets on one host
Hi, How do I setup multiple password protected iSCSI targets on Linux? I know that mounting a password protected iSCSI target requires modify these records with the appropriate values: node.session.auth.username = My_ISCSI_USR_NAME node.session.auth.password = MyPassword discovery.sendtargets.auth.username = My_ISCSI_USR_NAME discovery.sendtargets.auth.password = MyPassword But, now I need

Qlogic HBA scanning issues with CentOS 5.1 ?
Hi, I got few servers (IBM HS20,HS21 blades, IBM xSeries 3650 & others) connected to a dual fabric san throught Qlogic HBA's (23xx, 24xx). Multipathing is done with device-mapper-multipath. On CentOS 4.x i can scan for new scsi devices without any problems, get them up with multipathing & use them without any problems. However, after i started installing CentOS 5.1 (did not

Best Practice to remove an ISCSI LVM from a system
Hi, I'd like to know what would be the best way to remove an iscsi lvm storage from a server. (removing all reference to that storage etc.) The storage in question will be reset and reformated and used on a different server; so no LVM export is needed. Do I have to do lvremove ..., vgremove ..., pvremove ... and do an iscsiadm -m node -T ... -p ... -u and iscsiadm -m node -o delete -T ...

Connect libvirt to iSCSI target
Hi! I'm new to libvirt and face problems connecting to an iSCSI target. What I intend to do is to connect libvirt (I tried virt-manager and virsh) to an iSCSI target and then boot from the LUNs which contain the VMs. I followed the documentation¹ but got stuck at section 12.1.5.4.3. 1) virsh pool-define-as \ --name foo \ --type iscsi

rsync file corruption when destination is a SAN LUN (Solaris 9 & 10)
I have run into a problem using 'rsync' to copy files from local disk to a SAN mounted LUN / file-system. The 'rsync' seems to run fine and it reports no errors, but some files are corrupted (check-sums don't match originals, and file data is changed). So far, I have found this problem on both Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 OSes and on several different models of Sparc systems

can't start iscsi - and can't find answer on google
Hi all, I have the strangest problem on one of our backup server. iscsi doesn't start at all, and gives the following error: [root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi status iscsid is stopped [root at 2U-NAS ~]# /etc/init.d/iscsi start iscsid is stopped Starting iSCSI daemon: Unable to create pid file: /var/run/brcm_iscsiuio.pid [FAILED] Setting up iSCSI targets: iscsiadm: No records

iscsi confusion
I am confused, because I would have expected a 1-to-1 mapping, if you create an iscsi target on some system, you would have to specify which LUN it connects to. But that is not the case... I read the man pages for sbdadm, stmfadm, itadm, and iscsiadm. I read some online examples, where you first "sbdadm create-lu" which gives you a GUID for a specific device in the system, and then

iSCSI storage pool autostart
Hello everyone, I have recently installed libvirt 1.0.0 and am having a problem with my iSCSI storage pool's autostarting. They are just going to an inactive state right after a reboot of the host. However once the startup is complete I can manually start the pool without problem. I am getting the following errors in the libvirtd.log file but they don't really give me much as to what

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath? I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources. -geoff Geoff Galitz Blankenheim

Strange "feature"
Hi all! Doing my first steps with OCFS (1.0.9), I ran across a nifty little "feature".... We've been trying if DMP with QLogic 2300 HBAs works without having DMP activated (ok, blame on me...). ocfstool allows you to mount different partitions on the same mountpoint, but after we tried that, everything went to state "D" and we chose to reboot the whole cluster (4
