Bonding and network cards
Hi,
I have been playing this weekend with bonding on PCI netcards and found
that all of netcards I have, but old 3com, do not support MII. So
bonding is not going to happen with them. Do you have some pci netcards
supporting MII successfully running on bonging?
Thanks,
David Hrb??

Centos 5.4 'prerelease-access' - is there such a thing?
Hi,
excluding the Frankengrade from CENTOS5.3 to upstream RHEL5.4, is
there are procedure / repository access / nightly builds / ... to what
will be CENTOS 5.4?
URLs? Howtos? Discussion threads or notes?
I checked help, wiki and forums and google, but came up empty.
Of course, this kind of use is depending on the way the new upstream
RHEL sources are processed, so maybe there

Is kvm ready for prime time?
Hi all,
I've started playing with kvm on CentOS 5.5, with not much success so far.
In a nutshell, I have the same problem as
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2010-April/001854.html
I followed the RHEL5 virtualization guide to set up a bridge interface br0,
and then used virt-install (rather than virt-manager - I like automation) to
set up the vm. It hangs at some point.

ip conntrack table full
xen-3.0.3-94.el5_4.2
2.6.18-164.6.1.el5xen
RHEL5.4 x86_64
I''ve got a dom0 that does nothing but have a DomU created. The DomU gets
plenty of load. Over time, the dom0''s ipconntrack table fills up but not
the DomU. Once it gets full I can restart iptables and it''s fine.
The strange thing is this only happens on hosts I have provided (hardware
and hosting) from one

Interface bonding?
I'm try to bond a few interfaces together with the hopes of getting
increased throughput, and I'm using a cisco Catalyst 2900 as the switch.
I've tried using mode 0, 5, and 6 with nothing special on the switch,
and mode 4 with some ports "trunked" together (I have a feeling that the
"trunking" that the 2900 does is not 802.3ad, as it disabled the ports

Opinions on bonding modes?
I am working on setting up an NFS server, which will mainly serve files
to web servers, and I want to setup two bonds. I have a question
regarding *which* bonding mode to use. None of the documentation I have
read suggests any mode is "better" than other with the exception of
specific use cases (e.g. switch does not support 802.3ad, active-backup).
Since my switch *does* support

Best practice settings for channel bonding interface mode?
Hi,
may be there are some best practice suggestions for the "best mode" for
channel bonding interface?
Or in other words, when should/would I use which mode?
E.g. I do have some fileservers connected to the users lan and to some
ISCSI Storages. Or some Webservers only connected to the LAN. The
switches are all new cisco models.
I've read sone docs (1), (2) and (3) so the theory

Bonding modes
I have a bonded interface running in mode 1 which is active/passive and no
issue with this. I need to change it to mode 0 for active/active setup. Does
mode 0 is dependent on the switches configuration? My setup is: 2 links from
bonded interface is connected to different switches.
When I change to mode0 from mode1 , bond0 is not coming up.
These are the steps I performed

Dell Server suggestion
Hi,
I am in need of ordering a new server here for our asterisk solution. Since
the corporate standard is Dell we need to stick to a dell server. We used to
deploy 2900III without any issues, however now they are almost not available
any more and are looking at a new solution.
Has anyone tried any of the new Dell R (series) servers with Asterisk,
utilizing Digium PRI cards?
The biggest issue I

[Advice] CentOS6 + KVM + bonding + bridging
With the current talk on bonding, I have a few questions of my own.
I'm setting up a KVM host with CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on which I'd like to
attach the VMs to a bonded interface.
My target setup is one where two GigE NICs are bonded and then the KVM
bridge interface is attached to the bonded interface.
Initially I tried to use the balance-alb mode (mode6), but had little
luck (receiving
